I think Cole fans bragging abt the sales cuz niggas was constantly saying "Cole doing no more than 50k" shit like that.

It's more of a I told u so type thing rather than actually caring how many records he sells

6 tracks in and it's alright...........

def not FNL (which should have been his 1st album IMO)

Not surprised at all. Stop believing everything these IC hypemen are selling on here.

If these #'s are right thats a huge win for Cole and Roc Nation.

They didnt spend a lot on promotion, Cole produced most of the album himself, and he's been on tour non-stop since he signed.

He's probably making more money for his label than 85% of the rappers in the industry.

Ah so you don't like the singin.

Then agree to disagree. I don't like his straight singing shit myself, I fuckin hate Trust Issues. But you gotta admit you exaggerating the shit out of this witht he bold.

i don't like drakes half ass no soul he cant really sing singing. I listen to R&B singers who can actually sing. At the same time give me two 40 beats that don't all sound like the same slow motion night time type beat. And drake might have 1 or 2 tracks where he just pure raps but most of those are features. slighty exagertating maybe but at the same time with every new take care preview/throwaway track the more he strays away from pure rapping.

Id wait till the official numbers come in but if theyre true.... 99% of the Reason was wrong (including me) and....

So much for 30K

Same with him supposedly ignoring a whole region

Internet has no idea who's hot right now as well.

You deserve a plaque for that bit of realness. I been saying that forever just stans and haters and once again no credibility. I aint feeling Cole like that but good to see the market is once again potentially opening up for sales. At the same time someone posted that Wayne looked like he could again do a milli but he didn't, looks like it is easy for numbers to be off a significant amount. Let's just wait and see.

Lets be honest here. Cole World is an album that features a great bunch of songs but ultimately no direction.

J.Cole really did the Execing on his own, and Jay-Z's track record of helming albums hasn't been stellar at all.

If he had a team of people behind it, like Kanye had on College Dropout ( I.E. Dame Dash, Hip-Hop,Biggs) really QBing the development of this thing, I think it would be this decades College Dropout.

Without it though, it just ends up on a collection of top ten albums of the year, if that.

Thoughts?

It's not as simple as that, a lot of the songs on CWSS and FNL has the same theme so they would clash and become repititive as fuck. Where you can clearly see a problem with CWSS is he didn't sequence his album before making it.

A song like Enchanted is similar to Breakdown, Love me not is similar to Nothing last forever, etc. What the album is lacking imo and could of used is songs that is more socially conscious, something like a See World.

The singles are gonna have to make the album too, which is the big difference between the mixtapes. He ain't have a intention of selling albums and marketing with a mixtape.

Has the synth been hacked or is he really showing props?

This is a win for hiphop and restores some of my faith in the fans...........Hopefully it just gone keep selling.....

How is it really a win for hip hop though when most of his hardcore fans will admit it is not his finest work?

How does the album have direction, it's not like it was like some of these niggas albums (Wiz) with 14 tracks worth of singles. The sound of the album is consistent, not just the 14 hottest producers in the game and the three producers on it (The University, NO.I.D., and L & X) stuck to the theme.

Nothing wrong with the fucking album imo beside the sequencing could of been better and the older songs should of been bonus instead. Other than that it's a 4 mic album and it's way too fucking early is determine how the album will be perceived in the long run. I DON'T REMEMBER ANYONE CALLING "DROPOUT" A CLASSIC WHEN IT FIRST DROP, i remember people saying Kanye isn't a technically nice mc. Now look how that album is perceived, based on what Ye did after that album dropped.

LOL at you trying to give Dame and Biggs credit for shit like Jay wasn't a part of the shit, like you were in those meetings when they were deciding what to put on those Roc artist albums. smh

That is the exact job of the Exec Producer and the A&R team to figure that out.

J cole blew it on this album.

you have gotta be kidding me to say this album has no direction... The Carter IV has not direction... Cole World is the complete opposite of that

I understood why they did it that way though, the album was sequenced for the average person out there, not for us who are up on J Cole. A lot of people have never heard of J Cole and the song that got him signed which is also a great fucking song (LIGHTS PLEASE) and IN THE MORNING is the song that the casual listener knows him for. As a fan i get why you didn't like it, but as from a business pov i understood why they put those songs on there.

And Also Dame and Biggs had no real input of the direction of The College Dropout that was all Kanye so that point is also dumb as hell

Fine. Hip Hop Then. Point doesnt change.

Also school me on that Real Input thing? Were you in the studio and the bsuiness rooms? I don't know fi you were, just give me proof... I can only read off the back of the album.

And Why is Tha Carter IV even brought up? Who brought up Wayne?

@ USMarine

I dont mind Lights Please and In The Morning being on the album proper. They are good songs. I just think sequencing them different, maybe moving sideline story up earlier int he rotation and using that intro, cutting up the skits to intro into sections of the album (think Late Registration...just not as long as those skits were) and packaging some of those songs to resonate a feeling... I like Who dat coming out of an interlude as well.

It aint the song selection ( Maybe I would have tossed premeditated murder in there) but just sequencing and editing.

Could be true. I think Cole was pretty stubborn in wanting to do it all himself for the debut though, for better or worse.
