ASU – which opened with easy wins over Portland State and Cal Poly – faces Northern Iowa on Thursday in the Tire Pros Invitational held at the Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. On Friday, the Sun Devils face Oklahoma or Tulane.

The eight-team event originally was scheduled to he held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but concerns over the Zika virus forced the move to Florida. No. 11 Xavier, Clemson, Davidson and Missouri also are in the three-day tournament.

"We're going there to win a championship," Hurley said after Wednesday's early morning practice. "That's our mindset. It's a different level of competition than what we've played so far, so I think we'll find out more about our team. I still think there's an enormous amount of growth potential just because we're still learning how to play together, especially on offense."

Good win for the squad, out of conference schedule is definitely weak especially compared to last year but at least we getting the Young Horns some experience and letting them build some confidence

Really like what Im seeing from the Freshman Andrew Jones, good feel for the game on both sides of the court

That boy Markelle.

Man.

Niggas could get here late I remember pumping Towns > Ok4 dumb early. As well as the Embiid hype. The black Jerry West, I'm him.

I've learned not to believe the high school hype. I wait to see them in college

Markelle Fultz 2 games in

Passes my eye test. So does Lonzo Ball.

Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith Jr - not convinced

Played terrible and ended up getting smacked by North Western. Started off playing sloppy and turning the ball over and never really full recovered even though we did take the lead for a little bit.

Have to expect the young squad to go through some growing pains though and have games like this, hopefully they can at least learn from it and try to build on it

Shaq Cleare is some trash

ima pay close attention to Arizona next season.

Once Kobi & Rawle find their groove they're gonna be a dangerous backcourt.

They're the best team on paper next year especially with Kobi and Atkins likely returning. Markannen is a beast he'll probably leave and have a shot to crack to lottery. They won't mis him tho Ayton is the best player in the country

Bridges with another strong performance. He's rising up the ranks quickly. Should have never been so low in the first place

I know its early, but who has impressed u the most so far this season?

Its Lonzo Ball for me. Dude reminds me of your boy Elfred Payton, but looks like he is a better shooter (does not take much).

PS

Of course Fultz is the obvious answer, but that would have been too easy, plus i dont want to take @BDBIID 's "Glory"

I swear to you I was just coming here to post about how impressed I've been with Lonzo before I read this. He's a stud. Aside from Fultz and Bridges he's stood out the most to me in this freshman class. Don't know about the Elfrid comp tho because Ball is clearly more talented in most aspects of his game.

I'm struggling finding a proper comp for him. The best I can come up with so far is a Rubio/Levine fusion. His court vision and athleticism are off the charts.

They're getting a lot of playing time because wildcats don't have much guard depth so thats good for their development. I also see them doing another year. I won't be surprised if Markannen stays too because it's rare to see white stretch 4's leave after one year but he's really good. Ayton? who dat? I seen that name somewhere but didn't look much into it. I'm bout google and read up on this guy.
