However, this is the type of music that will be more prevalent in the coming years because "hood niggas" have the internet too, and they're exposed to things that in the early 90's most weren't exposed to. Right now, and in the future, hip hop will be a cultural gumbo, and it won't be about regions, but crews and labels going to war with rosters of people from ALL regions(i.e. YMCMB, GOOD Music, MMG and Roc Nation). Plus, independent artists will be more prevalent because the labels are only offering sucker deals and these teenagers are masters at social networking sites, and making their own T-shirts and other self promoting marketing techniques that come as second nature to them. Times are changing rapidly.

then im in upstate in new rochelle and in hempstead longisland i ask niggas if they fuck with him the majority say they know him, the young niggas said hes nice, the older more hood niggas say he soft. The younger generation of NYC tryin to turn into the south, especially longisland. but the hood will alaways stay the hood. but other then that i agree with that post 100%. hip hop really started chaning in 2007

Yeah, I see your point. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not hood myself, plus I have pretty eclectic tastes in music(hip hop, reggae, jazz, garage rock, opera, etc.) so I'm not the best person to speak on it. But, that's crazy that they didn't know who J. Cole was. I sometimes forget that people who listen to hip hop aren't as passionate as my circle of friends, or the people I share music with on twitter, etc.

Oh, aite. Well, expect a lot of that, cuz that's where most rappers in his age bracket are headed. They're a lot more open to other cultures than the older heads, which is a gift and a curse. A lot of cats I know that rap don't even sound like they from NY. They more influenced by the skateboard culture and syrup/ecstasy culture than anything. Some dude asked me to sample a dubstep beat, way before WTT. I looked at him crazy... couldve made a hit.

live and llearn .... my thoughts as a producer is to never shoot anything down until its created ... if it sounds wack @ that point then put it to the side .... but still let every artist hear it .... because every individual hears the beat different ...... you never know who might hear a hit over something you thought was wack

I mean dont get me wrong i aint hood either whatsoever lol, even the cats in the block was tellin me they fucks wit me but i aint built for this blood shit (i wasnt tryin to join at all) u jus one of them niggas we fuck wit cuz u a hood nigga at heart. but the hood is ignorant dude, i hate to say that cuz im generalizing but the majority of people in NY hoods, really dont explore hip hop like someone in the middleclass would, trust dude imma hip hop HEAD. from old school especially to new school with the exception of u puttin me on to Action bronson n spaceghost lol, its usually more of the black folk that have it better off that are into the new school wave of hip hop unless they are very passionate about hip hop or someone starts puttin them on, but normally its hot97 n power105 puttin in work which is sad to see, n plus they dont like hearin lyrical shit, all i heard was kanye, drake, big sean, eminem, MEEK MILL epcially! (u kno what im talki about) in the summer in NYC
