Or the unrealistic expectations in Baton Rouge

Not unrealistic expectations though I don't give a damn if they don't beat Bama or win a national championship every year.

All those top 10 recruiting classes and 4 and 5 star recruits should produce a better product on the field particularly on offense and that is a result of coaching.

Anybody who thinks Les was a good coach seriously doesn't follow LSU football. Les is a good man and a damn good recruiter but that's where the buck stops with him.

Guys like Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss and Brent Bielema at Arkansas having passed miles all that NFL talent you better be able to produce better than 8-4 seasons. Folks who don't follow LSU football just look at his win loss record though but don't see the clock management mishaps, the outdated 1975 ground and pound offense that's highly predictable, his inability to develop a QB, or Miles stubbornness in wanting to do things his way.

Damn no one wants to coach LSU? I think some of those coaches are bluffing. Looks like LSU might have to hire someone uninteresting

If they don't land Herman or Fisher I think they offer it to Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin would take that LSU job in a heartbeat I personally wouldn't trust my program with him nor do I care much for him either.

If by chance Kiffin ain't biting which I think he would LSU goes after some lesser known guy like Larry Fedora type guy.

I like Fedora too. He was the best OC Florida had since Spurrier left.

Yes, better than Dan Mullen.

Fedora was the OC for Ron Zook with Chris Leak.

Any body bringing up Kiffin for the LSU job need to institutionalized.

It is Herman, Fedora, Fisher, or even keep the interim. If Mullen is fired look for them to look his way for at least OC.

Dark horse hire...............Bill O' Brien!

I dont like Fedora because his offenses put his defense out to dry too much.

Fisher likes the DC at LSU and he knows that Florida and Miami recruiting will start to wear him down if they ever get back up. But FSU is a great school and football team. Why leave?

Kiffin, Shaw and Petrino are reaches that the media made to see of they have a story. Kiffin can be had but why? He has burned two schools already. He is not a national championship coach.

He knows SEC is the better conference historcially over the ACC. He may want a tougher challenge and prefer to play teams like Bama, Tenn, UGA, Ole Miss, etc....those white old dudes respect those type of programs much more than Clemson/UNC/GT/UVA, etc.

ACC titles aren't really valued that much anyway. No one really brags about winning the ACC.

LSU is the flagship university and undisputed #1 team in LA.

In Florida, FSU is #3 behind UF and Miami historically in the state....and UF is the flagship of the state.

Yes.

They have the same amount of National Titles as FSU does.

When people say "flagship university", they're usually talking about the most prominent university, research dollars, state support, endowment, etc.

The point was LSU is the state's flagship school AND it's the #1 football team in the state of LA by far as well.

I was referring to when you talking about FSU vs. Florida, obviously LSU is the top dog in Louisiana.

I was speaking of 2 things. Flagship university (the school) and the football program (historically).

In ref to UF vs FSU.

You believe FSU is the flagship university in Florida?

FSU ranks well below UF in almost every category there is. Same with fanbase, alumni, boosters, etc.

In ref to football, yes FSU and UF both have 3 titles.

However, as i said "historically" UF and Miami are 1 & 2 in the state for football.

UF vs Miami is the oldest rivalry in the state. FSU wasn't even playing football when those 2 started playing against each other.

(Actually, its my favorite rivalry game)

Of course, none of that matters to "us" today but i was saying to many of these older white dudes in the south like Jimbo, schools like Bama, Tennessee, LSU, UGA, Ole Miss, etc are probably more revered to them than Clemson/UNC/NCSU/UVA, etc.

Even Bobby Bowden tried to leave FSU to get the Bama job back in the late 80s when they hired Bill Curry.

He said Bama was his dream job.

Rumors were Jimbo agreed to accept the LSU job last year but backed out in the end and that's how Les Miles kept his job. Finebaum actually said it the other day on ESPN.

Says something about FSU doesn't it that they've only been playing football since 1947 and have already closed the gap so tightly then doesn't it??? Not bad considering Florida had a 39 year head start:

Well, none of the FL schools really did anything until the 80s so the head start didn't factor too much.

Florida was a small state (population wise) back in the day and didn't have the history or tradition of those other southern states and their FB programs. UF/Miami/FSU were all considered "Johnny Come Lately" by the old blue bloods of CFB.

However, FSU really took off when UF went on probation in the 80s.

Back when probation was real and crippling in the 80s.

UF had scholarships revoked, was not allowed on TV (they don't do that today), no bowls, the SEC (not NCAA) stripped the first SEC title in 1984 (and 1985) and prevented UF from playing in the bowl that would've been for a national title at end of 1984 season. UF was considered by many the best team that season and the coach was AP COTY but they didn't get to play in the Sugar Bowl.

BYU ended up being recognized as national champs after beating a 6-6 Michigan team. Although more publications voted UF champs than BYU.

Also, Bowden advised FSU turn down the SEC invite because he said it would be tough to win titles.

So, that helped. Meanwhile UF was battling SEC which had long established football programs + Miami & FSU every season. I mean FSU went what...4 years in the ACC before losing their first ACC game to UVA??

But yes, FSU has been a great football program. All 3 programs have been great programs since the 80s actually.

Obviously, Miami had the greatest run from '83-01.

OT but its funny how the SEC.....not the NCAA....the SEC....voted to strip UF first SEC title in '84 (and '85). Those hating MFs never liked Florida (the state) or the FL schools. Bear Bryant called UF the sleeping giant of the SEC and they took the SEC title back 6 months after the players had their rings and trophy.
