I think opposite. I think Smart's mental makeup matches with Kobe well. Smart has a bulldog mentality. Basketball wise I don't think it is the ideal fit but at the same time I think it can work.
Plus can't look at this pick at just what's good for Kobe he only gonna be around a lil' longer. If he's BPA they gotta make it work.
So you have to have the top 6 picks being Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Randle, Gordon, and Vonleh. I can see that. Hope it doesn't shake out that way though.
Smart I feel is being underrated due to scouting sites nitpicking his 2nd year. He's one of the few players that showed skills outside of athleticism to play a Halfcourt game, run the floor and on the defensive end.
Gordon somewhat scares me, majority of his buckets came off oops, in transition, or scrap plays. He may have an offensive arsenal somewhere in there but I barely seen it at AZ.
Gordon definitely needs to develop an offensive skill set. But with that size and athleticism, I don't see why that should be too difficult. And the cat isn't even 19 yet.
