I'm still mad about that, though it's not completely Obama's fault. There are a myriad of obstacles to closing down the prison, including resistance from the Republicans and just the logistics of what to do with the prisoners, etc. However, at the same time, he did have a lot of time to figure it out, he did make that particular promise, and he did flipflop on the issue, going as far as to sign a bill into law that actually reinforced and expanded Gitmo.

Once again, not much difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. Obama's just as bad. It's good what's he finally done, but he should've pardoned her/him ages ago. The timing of the pardon is questionable.

but yes, this is a thing about Obama: wants credit for bold stands he didn't actually take. last minute commuting of the sentence? trying to have it both ways.

at least he didn't pardon Pollard.
