The royal library of Alexandria was one of the biggest in ancient times, I believe it was like around the 3rd century BC it was started, shit housed anywhere between 500,000 and 700,000 scrolls. Found in egypt. Even though it's a library it was also used as a university at its time. Shit was the true beggining of textural knowledge.
