All I work is night shifts for the most part. It's just best to let your body adjust naturally. Also Not going to bed after work and staying up doing shit like it's a day time schedule helps. But not everybody's lifestyle can handle that. Another thing that can fuck you up is boredom on the job.

Keep active, keep moving. Doing push ups or holding your breathe for as long as you can will boost your heart rate and fights the sleep off at the moment. Making conversation with co-workers, if you can stand them, helps as well. Try to avoid sitting down for long periods and keep your area cold if possible. Way easier to dose off in warm, hot enviroments.

And Mountain Dew. I don't know what the fuck is in that shit, but it fights off the sleep. My gamer buddies put me on that years ago.
 
I just got off 3rd shift was doin it for 11 years, I would read books or fucced with ya'll threads to keep me woke. Ya playa pahtna on 2nds now wit 3 day weekends !!!
 
8 to 4 ....... switched to nights to avoid traffic and managers ....... also to get the night differential

Apples, water, and gum ...... gets me through the night ......
 
Water - i used to doubt when in military when they told us to drink water when tired but i finally did it when i worked nightshifts in the civilian world and it helps you get a second wind

Peanuts or Tuna Fish - these help alot with energy

Besides those its all about stimulating your brain. Find something your interested in can also help with second winds
 
I've never worked a graveyard shift but these will work to keep you up. Chop one in half. No need to take the whole 200mg or they will throw u off later after you get off.

I used to work overnight at my freight job last summer. Everyone would be hitting the wall at the same time around 5am. It wasn't that we got tired/sleepy cuz you can fight through that...but we would get delirious too lol. Laughing at the dumbest shit, not being able to speak coherently...

Working that shift would piss me off cuz when I would finally get home the sun would just be coming out and it would be another 3-4 hours til I was finally able to fall asleep -_-

It's just your body hitting it's natural circadian low. 3am and 3pm is approximately the time you'll be most tired.

When i cover for the the night crew manager when he goes on vacation and i work from 10:30 to 7:30 Menthols are the only thing that keeps me going for some reason
 
shit I'm going in tonight for a 10 o clock right now. just had a 3 hr nap but ima still get tired at around 2. i'll take a nap then and feel refreshed later.
