IDGAF what you new rules supporters say digital sales do not equal physical sales in any form. i dont know why yall cant see a pattern of hyper inflation. this really cheapens out the music and artist even more. these platnium certifications will mean nothing soon. The RIAA and Big 4 is up to something.
also there are so many loopholes and grey area with this formula. it will no doubt create issues with lawsuits and compensation disputes on many fronts for artists and songwriters. Thats cool that these new school artists get to see the effects of this formula immediately but what about dead, inactive and artists that have been dropped from labels. songwriters and producers are going to expect royalty checks damn near daily. this will open a whole new ugly can of worms dealing with sample credits and estate issues. if yall think old bitter artists suing for throw away mixtape tracks is bad its going to nastier.
and also this will be an exploited system with lots of fraud
a 24 hour day there is 1440 minutes.
lets divide that by 3. 3 is the average length charting rap song
that leaves 480. that 480 is 480 times this song can be downloaded in a 24 hour span
if 10 downloads=1 sale then litterally a person can stream a song all day and help an artist sale 48 albums
now that isnt a bad thing if you are a stan but take your dickrider glasses off and be fair
people used to listen to albums and songs all day they bought and only counted towards total sales in a one time point of sale event
this new rules yall dickriding is jipping the system. they are equating that music intake as if a nigga walked in the record store and went to the counter 48 times in one day. BULLSHIT and UNBALANCED
heres where it gets even more fucked up
you are subscribed to a music service for 10 bucks a month. 10 divided by 31 is .33 cents a day
.33 would be the overhead cost to help an artist download his song 400+ times a day to help him sale 48 copies
so in other words the RIAA is saying that this consumer not only "went to the counter" with this album 48 times but bought ALL 48 copies for .33 cents. 48 fucking copies of an album for .33 cents how is anyone making anything?
48 physical copies of an album in a store would be $800
now lets say you are an artist under pressure from your label and social media about your sales figure
a dumb artist could by 10 music subscription accounts for 10 devices for only $100 a month.
a showboat artist could buy 100 music subscriptions and get a team with 100 devices for $1000 a month
now take them 48 daily sales and multiply that by 10 or a 100. thats 480 to 4800 A DAY
4800x7=33600k a week, 134,000 units a month from $1000 monthly investment of streaming
This means an artist is selling his albums each at 7/10 of a penny. no wonder rap is CHEAP and GENERIC
This is the same shit that happened during great depression and to germany in ww2. everyone will have platnium it will be worthless plaque and classification
these new rules werent thought out well and the formula is a ponzi scheme waiting to happen
Epic!
