thing is tho, with most of these "subliminal" records the rapper makes it obvious who he's talking about
"hides behind 8 mile and the chronic, gets rich but dies rhyming" - nas taking shots at 50
"with 12 monkeys on the stage it's hard to see who's the guerrilla
you was better as a drug dealer" - common talking about 50 most likely
we knew commons sweet was about drake
we knew drake's stay scheming verse was about common
wayne threatening to kidnap Beyoncé over jay's "baby money" line
I can go on and on
meanwhile we have rappers calling out how these other niggas rap, dress, act etc yet we see them doing songs with the same rappers their bars could've been directed at, leaving their bars up in the air
those are true subliminals imo

I'm tired of nggas hearin a verse, clearly aimed at a ngga, then lazily and snobbishly sayin 'He aint say his name tho'
Thats what rap is supposed to be. Its a reward for the intelligent fan- to know 100% who its aimed at, while the rest of the dumb nggas are waitin for a name to be dropped.
I.e. the brillianceand hilarity of 'Is that yo chick' bein completely directed at Nas...or kick in the door bein aimed at Nas and a lot of nggas not knowin for a decade...
Again, Drake is new school so he's tyring to do that, but completely missing the nouance of it. you cant always do sublimnials and this is 1 moment when you cant. . Also, in the social media age, you cant 'sublminal' a ngga when all of social media knows whats goin on. Back then people didnt know about Jay/Nas beef, or Big/Nas beef, etc
