Nah it ain't. Native Tongues dropped some of the illest albums of all time. So did Brand Nubian, Main Source and Public Enemy. Even more recent acts like Cunninlynguists.

It's just that this brand of positive rap isn't as effective because the flavor is not as authentic. Doesn't make that subgenre of rap trash though.

Unless you're going to fully commit to making Christian rap, or super-positive rap with no edge,(Will Smith) then yes, that shit is corny --

especially when you look like you're doing it deliberately to escape criticism and stay on the industry's good side.

Both 10 day and Acid Rap have positive vibes to them, but they're not this. This shit is wack.

One of my favorite rappers atm, Oddisee, doesn't cuss, doesn't use "nigga", and all his lyrics have meaning. However, unless someone pointed it out to you, you wouldn't even notice. There is a way to be positive without being a cornball.
