Whoa... just browsed the new layout... and yeah.. its hella confusing.
Im not sure exactly what I should click on to enter a new thread is my first reaction.
I don't want to click on someones name and go to their personal page by accident when Im trying to click into a thread.
What am I trying to do at the end of the day? Click on an interesting topic... do we need the subway color circle with the letter on it on the bottom right.
If anything maybe theres a layout option. I don't need a super condense layout. I need a super organized layout.
For those that want a condense layout maybe theres and option for a 3 column format. Even on the condense 3 column format, maybe the thread box grows slightly when you hover over it.
To show that the thread is new with some unread post, maybe the thread box is a different color.
I think the best layouts are the simplest. I would think about the UX design like a well designed airport.
It has to be easy to get to where you want to go.
lastly.. knowing that the website is "alive" with users is key also. So highlighting new threads in a way that doesn't build clutter would be helpful also.
