Boy did things make a turnaround, now they are pretty much the (nearing) 40 yr old irrevelant rappers who are lost and forgotten. Asap rocky is harlems flag carrier now. This goes to show you in hip hop u can only be new for so long.

Look at soulja boy for example, he was the new guy back in 07 with crank day. Now today hes the old dude(hes only 22 but hes had a pretty long career for a one hit wonder) who everyone wants to shut up and go.

people always say "rolling stones" and i'm sure your overall point is correct in that rock bands may be able to last longer, and yes the kids of today still like rollingstones but a lot of the people at those shows are middle aged folks, not young kids.

it's harder for a rapper to do that because once people get to a certain age they tend to leave rap alone because it inherently is a young man's game. I mean a bunch of old folks can go to a rolling stone concert and sing paint it black and reminiesce on when they were young, but not to many ppl 10 years from now will be in thei 40s or 50s at some lil john concert dropping it down and getting they eagle on, or shoving each other when ruff ryder anthem comes on. I certainly would not want to see a bunch of old middle aged grandmas getting they freak on to some 2 live crew shit.

If you go to a Rakim, Scarface, LL show...You'll se some 30-40 year old people rhyming word for word to classic HIP HOP...
