Honestly, I don't have an opinion either way. I don't like Woody or dislike him. I saw one of his movies back in the 80's, thought it was boring and haven't paid attention to him since. What I do care about is the truth, and ever since I started reading about this the holes in Mia's story keep getting bigger. Woody's no saint himself, especially since Soon was his girlfriend's adopted daughter, but neither was Mia.

You ever hear about kids being told that their father wasn't shit and wasn't trying to fuck with them at all and the kids run around their entire life telling everyone "daddy ain't shit" and parroting whatever it was their mother told them only to find out conclusively as adults that the mother intentionally prevented their father from seeing them?

You can plant false memories in a young child through coaching, and that child will grow up believing that events happened and will, in fact, begin to repeat the events as told to them as fact.

Not that he didn't meet them until they were grown, he didn't have much interaction with them early on. It's said that Woody didn't really like kids when he first dated Mia and it was a bit of a chore being around hers. Mia insisted that he get to know them as a condition of them being together but he still didn't pay much attention to Soon Yi. He still didn't interact with her girls from her marriage to Andre Previn. When She adopted Dylan his attitude towards kids changed because he enjoyed being there with her, then Mia wound up pregnant with Woody's child furthering his "fatherly instinct". Soon Yi herself stated in a Time interview that she didn't really know Woody and that her parents were Mia and her then ex-husband Andre Previn (Soon Yi's full name is Soon Yi Previn).
