i was very disappointed in the redtails movie. they had to throw in the unnecessary and unfounded lust for white women and the movie had the feel of a sunday night disney special instead of a true historical event

IMO, that title indicates this could back fire on us. The original movie painted white people (KKK) as heroes saving the population from ravaging black men. Perspective is crucial here. But Nats story could easily be manipulated into a remake of the same racist propaganda the original had. Fact is, the historical event trails a thin line of not being just that. Just depends on who's controlling the narrative.

I fear we're all going to be very disappointed by this. I doubt this movie will be the big fuck you to slavery and racism we want it to be.

Where are the black films that are good stories? Normal tales of normal people? I'm so tired of black films only consisting of gang violence, drug trade, racism, the troubled black family united finally through the power of fried chicken and slavery. Stereotypes after stereotypes. You know what would be gangsta? A Shaka Zulu movie reboot; black warrior tales, black super hero flicks...

I agree with this. Even though I will still watch the movie, the more I think about current events, it seems like perfect timing for this movie. They are trying to start a race war. And this is just another log on the fire.

I'll take this over a Madea movie any day though.
