Nas’ new Def Jam/IDJ album, Life is Good, is his 10th in an impressive career dating back to ‘94’s now iconic Illmatic. It should debut at #1 on next week’s HITS Album sales chart with between 115-125k in sales, according to one-day sales figures provided by those music retailers who are still creating jobs, according to President Obama.

The quintessential N.Y. rapper’s last album, Untitled, debuted in July four years ago with 187k in first-week sales.

Razor & Tie’s latest edition of the Kidz Bop Kidz franchise is the 22nd in the long-running series since it launched in 2001, and has proven a big money-maker for the indie. This latest in what has become a cottage industry should do between 60-65k, which is even better than the last one. Eight of the titles in the franchise have gone gold.

Fearless Records San Diego-based punk rock band Pierce the Veil, formed by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes, has previously released a pair of studio albums. Their third, Collide with the Sky, should do in the neighborhood of 25-30k its first week.

WaterTower’s Hans Zimmer soundtrack for Dark Knight Rises look to do between 20-25k, while Fallen Sparks/RED’s Matisyahu and Eleven Seven’s Hellyeah—a metal supergroup featuring Mudvayne’s Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett with members of Damageplan and Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul—should both do in the 14-17k range.

Album sales were down 4% vs. last week, down 1% vs. same week last year and down 3% year to date.

Track sales were down 3% vs. last week, up 9% vs. same week last year and up 6% year to date.

125k is right around what I was expecting for Life is Good. It's another #1 album for Nas and I don't think the album will have trouble going Gold. Hopefully it has some legs on the charts! I think this might be Nas' first album that didn't have any singles reach the Hot 100 so I guess it's not too surprising that he didn't move more units in the first week.

Damn, I ain't been in thread since 1400+ comments ago. I was really looking forward to this album and I wanted to be surprised when I bought it.

I just copped the deluxe edition on iTunes yesterday and I listened to the whole album front to back around an hour and a half ago.

Life Is Good is a 9/10 imo. Life Is Good may be the best album of 2012.

I haven't heard an album this dope since Saigon dropped his debut last year. And there hasn't been a major label album this good since MBDTF.

The beat on Nasty didn't move me, never did (even though the lyrics are wild potent).

And I think that Summer On Smash shoulda been released as a single early last month.

One of the many things I love about this that's missing a lot today is that this is an ALBUM. not a dozen or so songs that just happen to be thrown together and released at the same time, on the same piece of plastic. The only song that can be called out of place is Summer on Smash, and honestly it's grown on me so much that I like it there. It's a radio song, but as long as you take it at that value it's hard to hate.

I still cannot believe Ross on Accident Murders. the way he comes in with his verse is phenomenal. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think that he upstaged Nas.

One of my favs on the album though is Roses, on the deluxe version. The way he delivers the last line of the last verse "I thought you was flyer, you a fuckin' liar" just shakes me with the calm way that he says it, but the underlying feelings of pain, resentment, and heartbreak that explode through.

It does remind me of a RZA production. In fact, it would be dope if Nas did a remix w/ Ghostface over this same beat.

Bout the aLbum, dont you think its Classic? Like some posters in here stated, Salaam and No I.D did to this album what Ye and Just Blaze did to Hov's Blueprint....

If it aint a classic, whats holdin it back? Im a fan of music and this shit is Classic.

Swizz sounded kinda funny on that track with his hooks

Swizz beatz should never be allowed to hang around Nas..... his shit is mostly garbage. If LIG dont go down as a classic, he should take the blame. See what he almost did to Stillmatic?

Reach Out is kinda cool tho.

Salaam and No I.D. definitely laced this album. I'm borderline on it being a classic. The fact that Nas is in top form over great production with dope concepts is a great case for it being one. Time will tell though.

Jus copped the album today, and on first listen i'm rating 4/5. it would have been 4.5/5 but summer on smash brought it down slightly.

BACK WHEN is my favorite track on the album. i love that shit. i just wish he added one more verse and made it longer. cherry wine, stay, bye baby, daughters and worlds an addiction are my next favorite tracks. the album is mature like streets disciple but wayyyyy, way better.

I got to give this album 9.5/10 and I got my copy yesterday. Daughters, No Introduction, Accident Murderers, Stay, The World's an Addiction, The Don, & Roses are all standout tracks. Roses is my favorite track. I'm a have to say Nas has another classic under his rap resume and I don't give "classics" to a lot of hip-hop albums.

This album confirms it - Nas has created another genre of music. I christen thee, adult contemporary hip hop. The sound track for the responsible adults out there that handle themselves with tact and class but still know how to have a good time.

That's unfair, y'all know I popularized that phrase "Adult Contemporary HipHop" I just haven't patented it yet.
