I agree with your statement. The execution is what kills the song. Every part of the song is supposed to add something to the song, but the hook takes away from the song. The most frustrating part about it is that even if he had a singer singing the same hook, it'd still be wack. It's like he tried to make some kind of anthem out of it, but it sounds messy.

Dude's really fell off. He hasn't released a hot album since 2002. He's still tough lyrically, but the way he puts songs together is just atrocious. This long in the game and his taste in beats are getting worse, which I never thought was possible. 'The Don' is also unlistenable. Lyrics aint worth shit when the beats you spit them over make your ears bleed. It's about the total package.
