I don't know what ya'll are complaining about. Nas' sales are great. There's very few people in the music industry that put up those kinds of numbers.

And for the record, there's nothing wrong with selling 380,000 on your 11th album. Most rappers don't make it that far into their careers.

The numbers for life is good are atrocious, great as that album was especially since he hasn't dropped a solo untitled and that was 08, that joint should've flew to gold at least. especially since lesser rappers matched what he did with ease and trash material.

Unfortunately you are correct. His sales are trending downwards. He can probably stay in the 300k-400k for the next album. Which is still profitable for a major but it right on the borderline. I can see him going the Indy route soon.

Nas been in the game 20 years, so that's 6 years of being a platinum artist (96'-02')...and 14 years as a semi gold artist (94'-96' and 02'-14') lmao....I could divide lol..50 sold his career in one album, so did Nelly lol...and dudes like DMX and Ja sold his career in about 4 years of being in the game...stop making excuses for him, he's an underachiever and its safe to say he's an underground artists....same tier as Banks and Budden lol, the comparisons to Hov are blasphemous...word.

nas been signed to a major label since illmatic. he is expected to sell records. he's not rapping for the fuck of it. it's his profession. if nobody buys his records, he don't eat. if there is no market for his music, he don't eat. he's a mainstream artist whether you hip hop purist niggas like it or not. you don't need to release flo-rida sounding hip hip records to be considered mainstream. a lot of great artists with messages in their music sold millions. nas is one of them. yes he's regarded as one of the greatest MC's of all time, but critical acclaim alone won't pay his bills

His album sales are great. He's got 3 double platinum albums and 4 platinum albums(The Firm) and he's only ever had 1 real hit(I can). He doesn't sell that great anymore, but only the biggest of the big sell records anymore. Only 4 rappers have gone platinum in the last 3 years, Jay-z, Drake, Eminem, And Kendrick.

For I Am, and Stillmatic to sell that many records and to not have one hit song is pretty remarkable,

Nas notoriously picks the worst singles to promote his albums. Life is good should have at least went gold but Nas wasted buzz dropping tracks like "The Don". That song didn't even fit the theme of the album.

Also I think he needs to focus his lane a little better. Grown folks hip hop should be his thing.
