You don't get to decide what "true Islam" is. The actions of people who carry the banner of Islam make that decision. If they sincerely believe they're doing God's will by killing civilians, that is true Islam.

So where at, specifically in the Holy Koran, does it advocate/condone the killing of "innocent people?"

Killing innocents is wrong however dont get it twisted. Our deen isnt pacifist. Those that say Islam means Peace are on the wrong path. Islam has no problem with peace but Jihad is 6th pillar of the deen. Muslims shouldnt feel apologetic or sorry or condemn the resistance that the occupiers have to face in Iraq and Afghanistan. The religion tells us that we should fight the occupiers. I aint no fan of the Taliban but I am a fan of the mujahaideen. If I had a choice of the Taliban ruling Afghanistan or some western backed leader who will do what his masters say I would pick the Taliban everytime.
