i agree, its has its ups and down in the last few years but with j cole, jay electronica, drake, nicki, ross, kanye's new label good music and a few others...its not dead. I love how every1 is tryna create their own lane. SN: We see how soulja boy just flopped wit his last album....shows somethin. Real music will come out on top.

This also accounts for the underground too, more so than the commercial shit.

We've had Kendrick Lamar, Eligh, The Roots, Kno, Deacon the Villain and Shiesty Christ, Eternia and Moss, Black Milk, Pigeon John, Slum Village, J Dilla, Madlib, Roc Marciano, 7L and Estoric, Diabolic, Funky DL, Panacea, Celph Titled and Buckwild, Curren$y, Bun B, Rah Digga, Reflection Eternal, Atmosphere, The Kid Daytona, Sadistik, Blame One, The Foreign Exchange, Sellassie, Joell Ortiz, Skyzoo, Fashawn's mixtapes as well as k-os', Yu and Freddie Gibbs.

Musically, a great year.

Yeah the last few yrs its either been Trap rap, Snap rap, or Commercial rap dominating the scene. This the first yr n awhile where its something for everybody. Even wit the Ross haters out there this nigga been making alot of grown man music all yr.

Fashawn's only come with two mixtapes though, wasn't really a fan of the Illmatic tape he did, but the other one was dope.

I was just listening to Ashes to Ashes n i just got to thinking that Ross been making good ass music all yr. Then i started thinkn bout Wiz Khalifa n his Chronic mixtape n how his music has been consistent also. Even wit the emergence of Big Krit, Waka, n J.Cole it seems as tho this may be one of the most balanced yrs n rap. Ppl hate on Niki but her cd was actually good and wasnt as stupid as most ppl (including me) thought it was gonna be. Lets not forget Kanye's cd, which to me may be argueably his best one. Whether Posters like these artist or not i think musically this may have been the best most diverse yr n HipHop n a long time.

..and you have low standards, chap.

smh

learn how to type faggot

wtf is this shit about? You mad cause you been checkin for good music for decades with nothing to show? You got one good album, Illmatic, but 94 as a whole was still wack. It's actually the only good hip hop album ever.

LMAO!!! Even i had to laugh at this one.

@dwade206 its not that my standards are low but def compared to previous yrs, this yr has produced alot of good rap. Dudes gonna hate on Ross regardless but he then came wit three of the top ten best mixtapes of the yr and made one of the top albums of the yr. But even for dudes that dont like his music u had Cole, Gibbs, and Jay Electronica. Buddens and Game even had good mixtapes and lets not forget Banks. I think this was the yr that brought lyrics back.

Some great albums came out, Sir Lucious Left Foot, MBDTF, Distant Relatives, How I Got Over, Lady Killer, Pilot Talk 1&2, The Darkside, Hunger for More 2, Apollo Kids, Man On the Moon II, etc

But some wack albums dropped too, Thank Me Later, Recovery, Deandre Way, Teflon Don, Rebirth, Pink Friday, Death of a Popstar, No Mercy, Reggie, Nelly 5.0, C.A.S.H, etc
