Dershowitz: Mueller Stacking the Deck Against Trump With ‘Ethnic And Racial Composition’ of D.C. Jury

Alan Dershowitz is accusing Robert Mueller of stacking the deck against President Trump by setting up his grand jury in Washington, D.C.

In a conversation with WABC’s Rita Cosby, Dershowitz gave his thoughts about the news that the special counsel has started to issue subpoenas and impaneling a jury for the investigation on Russia. Dershowitz suggested that Mueller wasn’t being fair to Trump since he’s using Washington’s jury pool, and the capital has a large demographic of Democrats and racial minorities.

“It gives the prosecutor a tremendous tactical advantage,” said Dershowitz. “The District of Columbia, which is always solidly Democratic and has an ethnic and racial composition that might be very unfavorable to the Trump Administration.”

Dershowitz suggested that the jury would be more fair towards the Trump Administration if they were drawn from swing areas like Northern Virginia.

When asked if he thinks the move “stacks the deck against the president,” Dershowitz, answered, “Yes. Yes I do.”

“I think it’s a tactical move designed to send a message that if the prosecutor decides to prosecute, he will have a real advantage with the jury pool where the case will be held.”
