Lol I feel you... I'm more for the guy that takes it to the rim and gets the higher % shot rather than settling for long J's, no matter how deadly a shooter they are... In your later years(30+), you're gonna need a jumper tho...

I'm sorry what do I know I olny played D-1 ball my father has only coached @ D-1 schools for the past 20yrs...i only have 3 close family members who are currently in the NBA or WNBA and more in Europe...I dont know anything about bball...I'm sorry I only turned down 2 offers to play ball in Italy and Germany this yr...you're right im a casual fan and obviously FG% and PPG have NOTHING to do with how good a scorer a player is...

I'm sorry but i thought the objective of basketball was to get the easiest shot possible therefore making the percentage of you making said shot go up...therefore there is a direct relation to fg% and shot selection...Bron and Wade can get to the basket better and easier therefore they take easier and better shots...meaning they have better shot selection which is a staple of a good scorer...and they have a better skill set which allows them to get to the rack with more efficiency

If getting to the rack wasnt such a good idea why did John McCelendon even come up with the Fast Break? You're trying to fault Bron and Wade for taking better shots than Melo...you're trying to fault them for having the common basketball knowledge to get to the rack and take the easy shot over Melo pulling a long or mid-range J...lol really...so i guess by your shot selection theory on a break Bron should pull up instead of dunking that way we can get a more accurate measure of his true scoring ability because everyone knows only sorry players get to the rack...the real scorers make things harder than they have to be...just to prove a point. Melo is a better scorer because he has worse shot selection than the other guys...really thats what you're rolling with? PPG dont matter....because they are just a measure of how much of the scoring load a player takes on....you ever think about ABILITY to take on that scoring load...if my team needs me to score 30 points and I dont have the ability to do so then ummmmm im not going to score 30 pts....if my team needs me to score but i keep taking bullshit jumpers instead of getting to the paint for easy 2s instead of taking unnecessary pull ups im not going to score 30...if i have an off night and i dont go to the rack and get lays or force fouls i cant manufacture any garbage points. I'm not saying Melo doesnt have the skill set to drop ANYBODY in the league off on any given night but to say that he has a higher propensity to do so based on his more difficult shot selection is fucking redundant... you have to be the dumbest guy to talk basketball ever...where did you stop playing...did u ever play for anything outside of a rec league...so I guess MJ wasnt a great scorer either because MJ was known to get to the rack and play inside...MJ didnt have a consistent 3pt and he only really pulled long Js when he had to MJ got to the rack or pulled short to mid range Js so i guess that makes him wack too right...i guess MJs lifetime .500 fg percentage is null and void because he spent his career dunking and taking short shots...I swear yall say the dumbest shit...He gets outscored and has a lower fg% but that doesnt count why? because it doesnt work in your favor? FOH....he's a scorer...but he's not the best is he in the same league yeah I never denied that....I just stated that those guys were better than he is at doing what he does...and ALSO better in EVERY other aspect of the game therefore making them better players...

bruh I understand what you were TRYING to go for but it doesnt really work when u are comparing two guys that play the same positions or similar positions...you would have a case if I brought up a PF with a better FG% but not against another wing player...because in essence their expectations are similar and the required skill sets are as well

I been playing ball ALL my life at a VERY high lvl...I played D-1 I play with an against NBA players all the time I have family that are in the NBA and play in various leagues across the world...I was offered to play in Mexico this summer and in Italy and Germany...I turned them down because I've had 2 grade 3 ACL tears in my left knee 3 surgeries on my left foot and I like walking...I'm not going to lie...I also dont have the heart and desire to practice and train at that level anymore...and I'm going to Law school starting next summer...its more long term...my ultimate goal is to follow in my father's footsteps and coach...my father has been a head coach at few small schools and an asst at couple D-1 schools from the ACC A-10 and C-USA leagues for the past 20yrs...I know bball guy. Just saying....get ur credentials up and start making valid arguments before coming out with ad hominem attacks and bogus asanine statements

bruh you got it...

Regarding your life story, It's the Internet. Nothing you say about your personal life can be used in a debate, because you could be.... wait for it.......................LYING!!!

...I'm not trying to fault anyone's playing style or fg%, I just said, that a simple "go look at the stats" has little to no weight when debating who's the better scorer or shooter because of the various variables that go into determining those numbers. Like... playing style, coach's style, surrounding talent etc.

Here's why:

Nash: 49%fg
Magic Johnson: 52% fg

Who's the better shooter? Nash by far.
Better scorer? Idk, I would give Nash the upper hand.

Shaq: 58%fg
Kareem: 56%fg

Who's the better scorer? Kareem obviously, he holds the all-time scoring record...

Andre Igoudala: 46%fg
Ray Allen: 45%fg

Who's the better scorer? Ray Allen.
Shooter? Ray Allen by far.

Monta Ellis: 18.3ppg 48%fg
Manu Ginobili: 15.1ppg 45%fg

Better scorer? Manu.
Shooter? Manu by far.

Kobe: 25.3ppg 45%fg
Lebron: 28ppg 47%fg

Better scorer? Kobe by far (81points, 35.4ppg when he has no help etc.)
Shooter? Kobe by far.

JR Smith: 13ppg 43%fg
Richard Jefferson: 18ppg 47%fg

Better scorer? JR Smith.
Better shooter? JR Smith.

Richard Jefferson: 18ppg 47%fg
Manu: 15ppg 45%fg

Better scorer? Manu.
Better shooter? Manu.

When did I say this? I said Carmelo was the better score because he has a complete offensive game.

He can hit the 3
He has a mid-range
He has a close-range game
He can post up smaller weaker wing players, and slower forwards
He's a great clutch player
He can offensive rebound if he isn't getting passed the ball

...Fact is Lebron, Wade, and Durant don't possess all of these things, which means Carmelo is the better scorer.

The only thing I disputed was the fact that you thought ppg and fg% determined who was the better scorer, and I proved to you why your theory was completely illogical due to the fact that they're too many variables that go into statistics.

foh w/ derailing my thread.
u niggas stay doin that shit.

Everything we're debating is completely on topic. I'm proving to him why Carmelo is a better scorer than Wade, Lebron, and Durant... and his and my response correlates to why I think Carmelo is the Most Underrated Player in the NBA.

Carmelo settles for J's because he isn't explosive enough to get to the rim solely by foot speed. He's smart. He recognizes his athletic limitations and developed a post game. Is he more skilled than LeBron and Wade offensively? Sure. But he cannot outproduce them because they are so much more efficient.

Melo's foot speed is lacking and has been since Syracuse. ven after he lost weight, he gained minimal explosion.

Reggie Evans (does the dirty work. the heat need this nigga)

Grant Hill (Considering what he went through he's been balling)

Chris kaman (white boy can hoop.)

Eddy Curry (nigga can eat)

Kendrick Perkins (getting better on offense but his injury cost Boston a banner last year)

Jameer Nelson (If it were not for him the magic would look like ass. he's nice just not flashy.)

I agree with the first part but disagree with wade & Bron part. I'm not really a Melo fan but if he really put in work he could be one of the greatest scorers the league has seen because nobody can stop him but him and so far thats the case.

Melo plays for a high pace team where he is the unquestioned alpha male. He can score, but I don't think he could score consistently and as efficiently as LBJ or Wade.
