We need to shame ghetto behavior more often. As it stands, people think it's cool to be ignorant and ghetto. Too much glorification of the hood and being up to no good. When someone's doing something right, he's an exception. An outcast. Going to sound cliche, but gangster/drug dealing hip hop isn't exactly innocent here. Kids look up to these rappers because they don't have role models. They can't separate the entertainment from the reality. Overall, the main depictions you see of black people in pop culture are of the gangster/ghetto variety. If they don't fall into that category, it doesn't appeal to younger people for some reason. They don't understand that you can be cool without being violent or ghetto. We just have to change the meaning of "cool."

It's also really bad parenting. Most of these kids grow up with a single mom, that had no business having kids in the first place. If the family structure of the black community improved, these problems would go away. But I'm not sure how to fix that.
