Its what separates the great players from the average ones also one of the reason why many players are still in the league even with no athleticism.

word to rip and ray allen

any player can develop it from the pg to the center (doesnt matter if ur 5'3 or 7'4) and be a problem...I dont understand why most players dont seem to care to develop it though

3's and dunks...plus acrobatic layups make sportscenter...not the midrange J...

Definitely a lost art. How you're good at the 3 ball but suck in the mid range? When I was watching the NBA in the late 80's and 90's if you were good at the 3 ball the mid range was automatic. Mitch Richmond, Steve Smith, Glen Rice, Reggie, e.t.c. This current era confuses me sometimes. Melo plays like he belongs in the 90s. The beginning of the season DeRozan was killing it in the mid range. More guys need to incorporate that into their games. The obsession with the 3 ball is weird and changed the game that you got Centers like Brook Lopez shooting it on the regular now.

This.

For the life of me I can't understand why a tall lanky 7-foot center who isn't very good wouldn't develop a hook shot.

Its the perfect shot. If you're 7 feet tall its absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to stop a hook shot. Even a 7-footer on defense can't stop a 7-footer's hook shot.

I can understand why guards and forwards don't develop a hook shot, it doesn't really work against centers. But if your 7-feet tall nobody can stop it. Even if you otherwise suck and aren't good at defense, a deadly hook shot is something every 7-footer should have in his arsenal.

I miss that shit in today's game everyone wants to be a three point killer now

Crazy how that works...whatever current gaurd has the flashier game is what dictates how the youth plays 80s was magic,90s jordan early 2000s it was iversons dribble now its currys range

Its crazy because it used to be that if you was a good three pointer shooter then you was a good mid range shooter first but nowadays, niggas be three point shooters & be wack af from mid range

leonard, melo, derozen, cp, paul george, kyrie, mccollum, thompson, durant, hayward after learning from kobe... who else? i know i'm missing a few that dont stand out. I can't think of no more than 15 that shoot well with the midrange and 3 ball. Use to easily name 30.

well then school me instead of being passive. i really had a hard time thinking about more than 15. i seriously think there were better and more efficient shooters then than there is now. the only difference to me is the attempts
