jazz emerged in the 20s and lasted til the 70s/80s

hip hop emerged in the 70s and its now the 10s, we still have some time before its completely whitewashed

however, at least all jazz fans acknowledge the black origins and nature of the music

not all hip hop fans do

It's just garbage," Rapaport continues. "This is Hip Hop. It's not Techno. It's not Electro. It's gotta...You have to keep that boom-bap spirit. It has to be there. There has to be a balance between growth and keeping it grounded. I don't know. It's challenging. I always feel like I wish I could rhyme. I could be like the emcee coach. Hip Hop Phil Jackson. I would be like, 'Yo, that shit is wack. Don't do that.'"

I respect homies opinion, but honestly who the fuck thinks of Kenny G when they think of Jazz?

... Anybody?

That's the point. Casual fans only know about Kenny G. When casual fans think of hip hop it's only the negative stuff that surrounds it that comes to mind in their eyes.

Y'all black though (I'm assuming) you ask the average white person Kenny G will pop up.

No lie I thought Kenny G and Michael Bolton were the same person when I was little lol

I like this how this guy thinks.good part about a coach sittin standards.u woodnt let a football player get away with playin bad.shoudnt in rap either

Jazz is still around...shit ain't dead, it just ain't mainstream. I don't know if there's anyone that's as standout or recognizable as Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, or Miles Davis but music as a whole doesn't generally have artists that are as standout or recognizable as past artists.

"the dumb are MOSTLY intrigued buy the drum, blah blah blah wah wah wah"

Still don't know why that line still gets misquoted.
