Because I know some Hebrew and I know that is not literal. Many things translated were idioms of that time and you would have to know the customs and language of that time to know somethings were not literal. Hell is only eternal because those who place themselves there over generations never learn their lesson. Fire destroys anything it touches and it won't burn forever if the oxygen and other combustible elements diminish to a certain level. God changes not
All the "after life" is life that is lived on a higher plane of existence after the elimination of this degraded way of living that human beings are on now.
Heaven and Hell are conditions of life. You can make a heaven for yourself and you can make a hell for yourself. The Destruction of this world is not talking about destruction of this Earth.

hell & the lake of fire are two different things.... the lake of fire is worse
hell according to scriptures are two things:living conditions & the grave
lake of fire is where ALL spirit beings will be if they don't make it into the Kingdom. The lake of fire will be a place of torture for spirit beings since spirits don't die but they will be tortured day & night.
