its part him and its us the fans...as fans we wanna believe that these rappers are about that life. we love to support the dude who got shot, dropped out of high school, sold drugs, or gang banged since he was a teen. these stories sell records. if a dude can actually rap but has no hardship (middle class, high school grad, maybe college, not a killer, never sold drugs) he aint selling shit. so we get a rick ross who recognizes what sells and then when stuff gets released about his actual life we get upset.

its not the fans....... in the 90s hip hop implimented what they called KEEP IT REAL in the 90s ........... thats where all of this comes from ... not saying dudes from the 90s are the most thoro cats ... but imo thats why it came out in the 90s cause alot of cats were fronting even back then ..... KEEP IT REAL !!

Hollyhood & Hollywood has convinced people not to be real. Swagger is a tool to keep it going. I respect nerds more than "Real niggas". Most real nlggas is a soft as sherbert. Too many blacks afraid to be themselves.

Yeah "keep it real" was the catchphrase in the mid 90ties. You still had fraudulent rappers coming out just like we have now. You had rappers like Boss who got exposed and couldn't bounce back eventhough she had skills. AZ got sued by the real Azie. Onyx got dissed by Doug E fresh for being fake when they came out.

Difference is hip hop wasn't as mainstream yet and the fans didn't give passes like they do now. Nowadays rappers can bite, kiss eachother on the lips, wear dresses, release wack sh*t with no repercussions.

fact is...even thought they got exposed...no one protected them and they image was ruined. in this case niggas going to bat for ross. excusing his fakeness rather than punishing him for it.

so yes, keep it real meant something back then because you'd get exposed and ruined.now niggas are willing to forgive as long as you make good music and have a good feature on the song.

The Book Of Gunplay

"& finally Gunplay lead his people to Carol City, the holy land that Rozay giveth his people. But one Maybach Music Groupie name Gee cried out "Gunplay, why have you lead us to the ghetto for whom we havent ate in many days".

Gunplay responds "no need to worry about hunger, whom our boss love to eat & feed his people. You shall not forget that I had my chain snatch so yours wouldnt, the Maybach was shot at for yours wouldnt". Then Gunplay told Hrap (who's a Maybach Music Prophet) to give him that last chicken leg & Hrap gives Gunplay the chicken leg. Gunplay held the chicken leg in the air & meditated "Boss, as we stand on holy ground, as I extend this chicken leg neat the sky to the Maybach, as you turn me on to cocaine, as you giveth us Port Of Miami, as you giveth us Trilla, as you giveth us Teflon Don, as you giveth us Deeper Than Rap as we think are all classic albums, please feed your nation as you are proceed to be the biggest boss thug far"

Then incoming wingstop chicken out the sky to feed his groupies

Lol, if y'all hadn't already y'all should make a Book of Rozay thread.

That's a good idea
