Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes announces PlayStation-exclusive "Deja Vu Mission"

Play as Classic Snake.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima announced the PlayStation-exclusive "Deja Vu Mission" for Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes at Sony's PS4 launch event.

This PlayStation-exclusive bonus allows players to play as Classic Snake, a lo-fi avatar of Solid Snake based on his appearance in the first MGS from 1998. That game's DARPA chief, Donald Anderson, is also briefly shown in a similarly low-polygon model.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is due next spring on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Another trip down memory lane?

During Spike TV's broadcast of the Xbox One launch event in New York, Geoff Keighley revealed that "exclusive content" for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes would also be coming to Xbox.

This comes shortly after it was announced that you would be able to play as 'Classic Snake' and an entire level from the original Metal Gear Solid (known as Deja Vu) in PS3 and PS4 editions of the game. There were no further details on what the exclusive content for Xbox 360 and Xbox One will be.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will launch on March 18, 2014, across all platforms, Konami announced today.

The release date comes by way of a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which introduces players to the "Jamais Vu" mission, playable only on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. In this mission, players are cast as the cyborg ninja Raiden and must take down enemy bioroid "snatchers." Check out the trailer below for more.

PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 players will also receive exclusive content in the form of a "Deja Vu" mission, where you'll play as classic Solid Snake.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be available to download on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, or in stores for current-generation consoles, for $30. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will also be able to download the game for $20.

Ground Zeroes runs on the Fox Engine and features a day/night cycle, as well as dynamic weather conditions that affect gameplay. Missions are designed to help players understand the game's new control and gameplay mechanics, Konami said.

Concerning story, Ground Zeroes will follow Big Boss as he infiltrates a Cuban prison camp on a rescue mission. Players will encounter "explosive plotlines," as Big Boss finds himself on enemy soil in a heap of trouble

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will follow sometime later, though Konami has not yet announced a release date for the open-world game. Series creator Hideo Kojima recently said that the game has "enormous volume" and will not be finished for some time.

The XBO exclusive content looks way better. I don't want to play with a PS1 character model. WTF?

Wait Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are 2 separate games?

Word...

Ground Zero - Prelude

Phantom Pain - MGS 5

Technically they're both Metal Gear Solid V. The scope of the project was just too big to limit to just one game.

Not impressed with this extra content.

Honestly, it would of made a lot more sense to use Gray Fox instead. The real one, not just the skin. Now that would of been tight.

But WTF at this shit being separate games. Surprised me as well.

Looks like what I expected. Hopefully the controls and response time is fluid and on point. Niggas is gonna need that for when shit hit the fan.

Looked like there was some trippy shit going on with the game camera at certain points. The shit would stretch and bend for some reason. That's shits distracting as fuck.
