Cool. @GrouchyGreg's also aware of the spam issue.

One thing that would help free up mods' hands...when @ILLBOT deletes spam, be sure to "delete all content" at the same time...that way a mod/admin won't have to unban an account, delete the spambot's content, then reban.

There will be changes/fixes within 24 hours, per Greg. This will encompass other issues, as well as spam.

Okay guys. I woke up to see the spam queue full of about 30 live stream posts so I think it's working pretty well.

The Ill Pix folks seem to get caught a bit because the spam checker can't seem to tell the difference between pictures and regular links. I only saw a couple posts today and just verified those users after approving their posts.

It seems as though regular folks can get caught when they post only a link. The IC seems to have the occasional poster that comes here to promote their indy album or something like that. I don't think this is a bad thing, but I'd recommend that we maybe put an announcement together for the community. Here are a few things I'd think about saying:

1. If you post a link that's cool. Just try and put some writing around it to let people know what it is. If you just post a link it looks like spam.

2. Upload an avatar for yourself.

3. Once you've posted enough we'll know you aren't a spammer and can verify your account.

This looks great. I still think we need a whole SUBFORM called IC Roadmap: A Guide to All Things About The IC

We can make these locked threads, because there are a bunch of things about this system, and the community that people will need to know. Vanilla, do you have a FAQ we can start with and then customize? There are a lot of cool bells and whistles to this, and even just explaining the reactions buttons will probably require an entire post for someone to properly understand.

What do you guys think about that? A whole subforum?

Yeah, that sounds cool..

Quick update guys. The spam filter is catching about 30 spam posts a day and maybe 2 legit posts. I'm verifying the legit people if they have a bunch of posts.

It seems as though we are going to go through a period of the spam getting a little smarter to try and defeat the system. I want to make sure that we can make it though a round of the spammers re-programming their bots.

Please let me know how much spam you see in the forum.

Ok cool. That right there is half the battle with spam. If they can't make threads that will dead 80% of their links. If illbot keeps on just how it is then they'll never make 300 posts by just making another account

It's kinda dangerous to have "delete all content" as a default for ill bot. But I guess if posters get their fair warning and don't make new accounts when they are banned then it shouldn't be a problem.

But its possible to lose good threads if the threadstarter of a good thread just so happens to get banned one day.

With the 300 post rule, whoever bans a spambot should be able to look at the account and tell it's not a poster.

Nah I meant that in reference to ill bot. Like I've seen ill bot ban like 10 different posters because they all use the same mobile network. If "delete all content" was a default for illbot then that could get ugly lol

Yeah. I'm not going to have Ill bot delete all content. That's going to make Johnny Green come in and take over a few accounts and then bam, all that content is gone.

Can we also make a limit on how many threads a poster can make in 1 day ?

Makes sense
