He could have said, forget the community like Jay-Z and others but he actually wanted his people to gain from his success. Jay-Z raps about selling drugs and killing people and claims it's only entertainment. The problem is, it's not entertainment, it's real and Jay-Z is a role model for these kids who parents are taught up in the same mess Jay-Z was rapping about. As much as you can diss Hammer, his first lines in "Can't touch this" was:
My, my, my music hits me so hard
Makes me say "Oh my Lord"
Thank you for blessing me
With a mind to rhyme and two hype feet
It feels good, when you know you're down
A super dope homeboy from the Oaktown
Just thanking the lord for blessing him and claiming that he's a cool guy to like. Jay-Z and other rappers including a younger Master P would rather poison you and claim to be hood reporters. Since when do reporters sell dope, kill, or talk about it. They report, not live in another man's skin. I don't ever recall Hammer using the 'N' word either in his songs. Hammer was actually a blessing to the game, the problem was the powers that be didn't want Hammer to shine. He was too positive and too helpful to his brother. Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and some others would rather shoot you and claim the devil wanted you gone. I guess brothers priorities is messed up in 2011.
Edit: Remember that Master P filed for bankruptcy as well. It's no surprise when artists do that. Most aren't really making a lot of money comparative to their actual worth.

hammer ain't winning at all
any time a major failure says that they've moved on to "investing in various things" and "speaking at universities" it means they fell off and live paycheck to paycheck
and being a preacher is a major L
nobody has less credibility in this world than a preacher

Even though I liked some of his songs, my complaint was damn, why is this nigga getting all of this love when there are people way better than him. I don't fault him for giving back, but you have to make sure your own solid financial ground before you save the world. Even though you my be a multimillionaire, you still have to budget your money and live within your means. Even though your financial parameters are bigger than everybody else.
The powers at be didn't conspire against Hammer, the music buying public just grew tried of his brand of music.
