The Verdict
I love the original Mass Effect, and I’m pleased that PlayStation 3 gamers who may never have experienced it elsewhere finally have a chance to do so. I’m in the camp that believes the games simply get better the further you get into the series, meaning that for as amazing as Mass Effect is, its sequels are more amazing yet. So if you like this game, just imagine how much you’ll like what follows it.
Mass Effect sets a solid foundation for the two games that come after it in terms of plot and character development (yes, you can import your Mass Effect save into Mass Effect 2 on PS3). And while I wish that BioWare didn’t ultimately abandon the RPG elements in Mass Effect that made it inaccessible to some, it’s awesome to go back and play a game that, at the time, wasn’t the hit it is today.
This is where the Mass Effect phenomenon started, and I implore PS3 gamers to take this fresh opportunity to experience it for themselves.
Mass Effect on PlayStation 3:
9.0 Amazing
Mass Effect's late to the PS3 party, but the wait was well worth it, because it's as epic as ever.
