Yeah, Infinity is kinda a bad name for this event because everything in Marvel with "Infinity" in the title usually has something to do with the Infinity Gauntlet. This story doesn't really have anything to do with the Infinity Gauntlet. On top of that, Thanos is present but he's not the primary threat.

I'll just go all out and say that Jonathan Hickman's Infinity event has been the most coherent event from Marvel in a long ass time. Age of Ultron and AvX were both incredibly convoluted and shitty with bad characterization and nonsensical scenarios but Infinity ticks all of the freaking boxes as to how an event is supposed to play out in the Marvel Universe.

New Avengers with T'Challa, the Black Panther/King of The Dead centrally positioned is a solid book that has major character moments as the Illuminati deal with the threat of Incursions, while the Avengers book (also written by Hickman) features Captain America's team deling with the threat provided by the Builders on some straight up intergalactic Star Wars type ish.

Infinity is solid and is a lot more diverse (characterwise) than anything coming out of the usual BS from the X-Universe and their wack ass Battle of The Atom event that was just straight garbage.
