Marriage, an archaic system....

I think that the niggas who aren't committed to marriage, aren't honest with their mate and - more importantly - not honest with themselves, shouldn't get married. I can pretty much look at any couple that i Know that has gotten divorced and point to some very simple shit they could have done to avoid it. *shrugs*

there will always be 2 entirely separate paradigms for the concept of marriage... those that are married / soon to be married and those who arent married or entertaining that thought at the present.
A defense mechanism to affirm your belief that you are making the right choice.

but meh?

I have no idea what you mean, B. Care to rephrase? Let's talk about it.

I'm a broke college student, I can't see myself ever getting married. If I become a successful, I couldn't possibly ever see myself getting married. If I had Will Smith's wealth, I'd slap anyone for proposing such a ridiculous proposition.

BTW, Will Smith & his wife have denied the rumors. They're good and happy.

simple, if youve invested in a longterm relationship with marriage in your immediate site, then you would hate to think your wasting your time or made a poor decision reguarding it.

just like I have invested in the belief which I stated in my earlier post.

wheather it be for financial purposes or fear of losing that woman, are not dire enough reasons for me to sign that paper at the courthouse.. ya dig?

I think for the most part marraige is a religious invention...

why do we need to place rings on each other in a church again?...why can't we just choose to be monogomous on our own as boyfriend-girlfriend?....there is no logical reason...

sex is a sin according to religious writing and marraige makes it not sinful...

the whole concept of marraige is garbage imo...it was from the get go...based around going to hell if you have sex with more than one person...

aight B..

I think it would be better if marriage was the destination..

meaning you have to remain with that partner for a 15 year minimum before you can get the title, "Married"

I think it would single out people marrying for all the wrong reasons B!

If you cant stay together for 15 years...then you cant stay together for the rest of your life. imo

Damn, I dunno about 15 years. Lol. But yeah, I think there should be a length of time you are required to be together too. Also, I been saying for years that you shouldn't be able to get married before age 25 anyway.

soceity puts pressure on us, women in general, to get married...

like I said if society wasn't like that then most of just wouldn't...

it isn't forced, but the pressure is there...

most of my friends that got married failed, and the ones that remained married seem miserable...and this isn't my just my friends, this is most of our country..

well damn!! lol. really if i was with somebody for 15 years i wouldn't give a fuck about being called married anymore. that's like telling somebody who's on a diet you'll give them a cookie when they lose 50 pounds.

Marriage wasn't even for poor people to begin with. So maybe we should throw it away?

Exactly they didnt want poorer people married because it was an institution on itself. Marriage creates families and within numbers theres power. In my city you know the wealth people have by their last names alone. The more divided mutherfuckers are the smaller the wealth growth and the easier to control. People should use their marriages and family to benefit each others, yeah love exists but the fairy tale doesnt. So if peeps want to throw it away its on them but its better done with the whole marriage shit

I believe in 80% of what you wrote, but to be quite honest throwing away traditions because it doesn't suit the period we're in is stupid. The only people that seems to throw away traditions easily are poorer folks. Throwing away one tradition to suit some wishful thinking new age theory makes no sense. People keep traditions alive to benefit family prestige and power. So...nah

I understand what you are saying, but traditions are only made because someone threw one to the wayside and started another.
