Mark Wahlberg Asks For Pardon For Hate Crime Conviction

I can understand the mindset that of the victim has forgiven him and doesn't object to the pardon being granted, then let him have it.

Noble sentiments, and certainly much more generous than I'd have been in his situation. And it's been 25 years, so it's a reasonable point of view.

My thing is the feeling that he's seeking the pardon merely to further his business interests. So my personal opinion would be "fuck him".

Plus, I've heard it said that he's an asshole in any case, not even getting into him having been, or still being a racist.

for those of u that say he shouldn't be pardoned on what basis do u hold your argument?

its his fault he blinded one man's eye but does that mean he's not allowed to become a successful person the rest of his life? especially if the victim doesn't care.

or is it a race thing?

only argument i would make against it is that they wouldn't pardon the average joe even if they seemed worthy of it, which should change. im sure most of u enjoyed movies he was starred in and im sure ppl who go to his restaurant enjoy the food. one crime in the past that he did the time for get over it, the blind dude did.

@ bolded: He's already successful though

that question was asked from reading this in an earlier post:

he committed a hate crime and his victim has to live with watching him (with one eye) on tv for the rest of his life with no compensation

my point is....so the fuck what?

his success had nothing to do with that man or that crime. if he's good enough to become an a-list actor he's not gonna stop what he's doing cuz he fucked someone up in the past. add to that the victim said himself he deserves another chance.

and if his record been clean enough since then i dont see why not.

Thats like a convicted child molester asking to be pardoned because he aint touch a kid in 20 years

i disagree. being young and wreckless is a phase that most ppl mature out of. a child molester is already mature and knows better.

"he commited a hate crime "

white boy poster responds: "so the fuck what"

typical evil cracker mindset. the mods need to just permantly ban white ppl.

It was a fucked up crime but Wahlberg was a young piece of shit by his own admission who was a product of his environment.

He served his time and is now a seemingly reformed productive member of society AND the victim has made peace with him.

He should get the pardon. Everyone does stupid crazy shit of varying levels in life.

If he has made amends with the victims and he has turned his life around i see no problem with it.

the problem is that its too difficult for other who have "turned their lives around" to get pardons.

Hey dick bag take a look at my post history if youre really tryna be up my ass.

I never respond to posts with racial preference. Other black posters share the same exact view as me on this topic.

Ignorant posters should be banned.

For all you mfs who swooped in with your capes for this burger flippin mf....

BOSTON (AP) — A victim of one of Mark Wahlberg's racially motivated attacks as a teenage delinquent in segregated Boston in the 1980s insists he shouldn't be granted a pardon for his crimes.

Kristyn Atwood was among a group of mostly black fourth-grade students on a field trip to the beach in 1986 when Wahlberg and his white friends began hurling rocks and shouting racial epithets as they chased them down the street.

"I don't think he should get a pardon," Atwood, now 38 and living in Decatur, Georgia, said in an interview with The Associated Press.

"I don't really care who he is. It doesn't make him any exception. If you're a racist, you're always going to be a racist. And for him to want to erase it I just think it's wrong," she said.
