Mark Wahlberg Asks For Pardon For Hate Crime Conviction

Wahlberg had been in trouble 20–25 times with the Boston Police Department in his youth. By age 13, Wahlberg had developed an addiction to cocaine and other substances.[9][10] At 15, civil action was filed against Wahlberg for his involvement in two separate incidents of harassing African-American children (the first were siblings, and the second incident was a group of black school children on a field trip), by throwing rocks and shouting racial epithets.[11] At 16, Wahlberg approached a middle-aged Vietnamese man named Thanh Lam on the street and, using a large wooden stick, knocked him unconscious while calling him "Vietnam fucking shit".[12] That same day Wahlberg also attacked a second Vietnamese man named Hoa "Johnny" Trinh, punching him in the face. He believed he had left his victim permanently blind in one eye.[11][12][13] Trinh was interviewed in December 2014 by Daily Mail, who revealed that he lost his eye before the attack during the Vietnam war, was not severely injured by Wahlberg, and did not know the identity of his assailant prior to being contacted by the media.[14] According to court documents regarding these crimes, when Wahlberg was arrested later that night and returned to the scene of the first assault, he stated to police officers: "You don't have to let him identify me, I'll tell you now that's the mother-fucker who's (sic) head I split open."[13] Investigators also noted that Wahlberg "made numerous unsolicited racial statements about 'gooks' and 'slant-eyed gooks'."

Fuck him...

What about this one?

The Massachusetts Attorney General sued Wahlberg and two friends, Michael Guilfoyle and Derek Furkart, in a 1986 civil rights action. The suit alleged that Wahlberg—then 14—and his buddies yelled racial slurs and threw rocks at schoolchildren. The incident began when they noticed three black children walking home from school. Via the Smoking Gun:

As they were walking, defendants Michael Guilfoyle, Derek Furkart, Mark Wahlberg, and another white male began to follow them on bicycles. One of the defendants said to the Colemans, "We don't like black niggers in the neighborhood so get the fuck away from the area." The group of white males then chased the Colemans, using their mopeds.

During the chase, the group of white males yelled, "Kill the nigger, kill the nigger," and each threw a rock at the Coleman brothers and sister.

According to the suit, Wahlberg and his friends spotted the children with their teacher, a Mrs. Deshaies, out on a field trip the next day. Wahlberg and his friends allegedly yelled racial slurs and again threw rocks at the children. Two girls—one black student and one white student—were hit in the head. Wahlberg was also accused of throwing a bag of rocks at another white female student. The teacher had to summon an ambulance, which eventually "chased the defendants away from Mrs. Deshaies and her students."

Wahlberg agreed to a final judgment by consent, settling the case without admitting any guilt. He also made an agreement not to assault, threaten, intimidate or harass people because of their race, violation of which would result in criminal charges.

Fuck Wahlburgers.

I see no reason not to pardon dude. The shit was 20 years ago, he seems very remorseful, since this isn't the first time this has come up. He's talked about this before in mad interviews and how sorry he was and how much of a stupid, delinquent ass kid he was. Plus the dude served his sentence and ain't really been in trouble since then.

he committed a hate crime and his victim has to live with watching him (with one eye) on tv for the rest of his life with no compensation

Try again, fam.

He's a better man than I am or could be.

Can't believe some of y'all are actually supporting white privilege.

If this is (an example of white or class privilege, I don't think it is and I don't believe in a universal or static white privilege that all white people have all of the time in all circumstances) it would only mean that people of color/lower class people should have the benefit of being pardoned for crimes they committed in the past, not that he shouldn't, in my opinion.

for those of u that say he shouldn't be pardoned on what basis do u hold your argument?

its his fault he blinded one man's eye but does that mean he's not allowed to become a successful person the rest of his life? especially if the victim doesn't care.

or is it a race thing?

only argument i would make against it is that they wouldn't pardon the average joe even if they seemed worthy of it, which should change. im sure most of u enjoyed movies he was starred in and im sure ppl who go to his restaurant enjoy the food. one crime in the past that he did the time for get over it, the blind dude did.

he already has

Hell Nah, I know if it was Any one of Us (People of Color) we would be Deemed as a Violent "Thug" for the rest of Eternity .

If the Average man can't Get a Pardon for his Younger (& probably more minor) Mistakes and Kept Outta Trouble since, then why should HE.???

Fuck allat brah . . . This man history shows Consistent Racially Motivated crimes too .

I dont even think he's a Racist but Dude ain't Special .

So Nah brah, fuck that .

It's crazy how some of these white people commit some wild crimes and still manage to become huge successes with no one caring. Meanwhile, a black person can keep his nose clean and become a success, and then when he/she does something minor, white people want them destroyed always and forever.

Exhibit A: The Fashion Industry

In 2006, fashion model Kate Moss was caught sniffing cocaine on tape. She lost a couple of endorsements but still bounced back strong and is still in the spotlight earning millions

[B}Now ask yourself if it was Naomi Campbell (who's Black and also British like Moss) that was caught bingeing on coke?[/b]

As opposed to beating the shit out her housekeepers? Lol. Bad example. Naomi Campbell ain't shit and a known fuck nigga. And she was sniffing that shit too back in the day no doubt. Ijs.

Anyway. I fuck with dude when it comes to movies and shit but nah he definitely can't get a pass. Disappointing to tell the truth.

I read that the only reason Wahlberg is suddenly seeking a pardon is because he tryna open a new restaurant that serves alcohol. And in California you can't get a liquor license with a criminal conviction. IDK how true that is, but it makes sense considering that incident happened 25 damn years ago.

That cracka is a known racist who blinded an innocent man. Fuck him, dude don't deserve no fuckin sympathy or a pardon.

As long as he makes or already made the asian niggas he fucked up rich... People change but its fucked up he had that much hate in him at that point. He was only 18 tho

if someone does not commit another offense for 25 years I think it's a safe call to pardon them

This permanent record bullshit in the justice system is archaic and hinged on long disproved ideas like leopards never changing their spots and retribution/punishment being the primary goals of justice

The victim forgives him and it was 25 years ago?

Society should no longer hold it against him. Now if he simply paid the guy off then it's sketchy but if that man's blindness was for sale then so be it.

But what about the people who cant afford to pay off victims and make this type of shit just go away? Is this just another example of rich racist white boy throws money at a problem?

I have mixed feelings on it but I agree with @Trashboat‌ that this permanent record shit is counter productive.
