Mark Jackson: D. Wade is the 3rd best Shooting Guard in NBA History

I think the comment was simply a commentator getting overexcited in the moment.

I think even when he said it, he knew it was a bit ludicrous and too early to say that.

About the Wade over Howard argument. That could go either way. Depending on your team.

Wade has proven he's a grade A player, excellent slasher, decent shooter, good defensively, plays hard and can take over games when needed but also injury prone. That is a fact. Early in his career, he pulled a Jordan (with some help from the refs, good coaching and teammates) when the Heat stole the series from the Mavs. No one can take that away from him. It aint just luck, He showed me something in that Finals that you can't teach (Lebron needs to develop as well)- true determination, fight and leadership.

Howard has true potential in a way that no other player can in today's game given the rarity of centers. If he continues to develop a good offensive game, strength, post moves and basketball IQ, he's gonna be a huge problem. A potential new type of Shaq and Bill Russell if he gets there. He's stiill raw now but starting to show signs of progess. On those grounds, you could make agreat case for Howard.

To be great, you have to able to dominate games and take over fourth quarters. Tough one, but given what i know now, I'd probably pick Wade for those reasons plus he might be more marketable than Howard. If not, smart money goes with Howard.

Hes Top 5 SGs and if he keeps up his play for 3 or 4 more years with the addition of another ring or two he would be without a doubt the 3rd best

although numbers arent everything Wade will end up as good or even better numbers then drexler and miller when its all said and done add that to the fact that he was the best player on a championship team and will more than likely win another one puts him into that 3 spot.

Wade's numbers will go down, not up, due to him sharing the ball.

where did i say his numbers would improve? i wasnt referring to his reg season numbers but his career totals and although those will take a minor hit his career will be prolonged due to him having more help so that will help.

Thought you were talking per season averages.

Wade isn't better than Iverson, maybe just as good, but not better. Hell, let's be real, Wade won his championship by going full Iverson mode. If you put prime Iverson in that Finals against the Mavs, the Heat still wins.

i dont know about clyde, but statisticaly speaking if wade keeps it up he'll end up being better than clyde but probably not by much. but when it comes to iverson, there's no doubt in my mind that wade is better than iverson. look at the field goal percentages, iverson is the definition of a chucker. jr smith would put up AI numbers if u put him on a shit team. look at wade's percentages even when he was on shit teams. and when ai took that philly team to the finals everyone forgets how shit the eastern conference was, eastern conference was a fucking joke back then

Im a huge AI fan...one of the greats...but Wade is the more efficient player and more willing to defer to his shitty teammates than AI was...Wade is def a better leader than AI in that aspect...like someone else said the FG% gap is way too wide to not give the nod to Wade as well....and lets not even talk about defense when comparing the two, ima let Iverson live on that one..

Well if we are talking the modern game he is not far off. You can make an argument that West is better than Kobe and is for sure better than Wade. He avg over 30 points many seasons with his primary weapon being an outside jumper with no three point line. Some people say he would have avg 40 or 50 with a three point line. He also pretty much invented clutch. But in the modern game meaning late 70's to now I can see him in the three spot. The only two guys that can compare are Clyde and Reggie. I also want people to understand putting D.Wade at #3 leaving Jerry West out is not a big deal because Jordan pretty much invented the two as we know it. B. Roy could be top ten SG's just because in the history of Basketball the PG was way more important than two guards especially before Mike. Putting Wade at number 3 shooting guards still does not mean he is top 20 or 30. I personally think it is too close to call right now with Reggie and Clyde but Wade is better than A.I., Joe D

whats dumb about it? There is no doubt in my mind Wade is better than AI, and AI was my favorite player up till 03-04.

I saw Clyde alot, and used to argue for Clyde, but I think Wade got him too, and Miller, well Miller has the quick sweet stroke, but Wade got him in all other phases, as far as West, I dont know about him and personally dont think he could hang with Wade, but never seen dude play more than a couple highlights here and there.

Unless something tragic happens, Wades career stats, and individual accomplishments should speak for themselves.

Ws it premature, maybe, but Wade is well on his way.
