If you read a Lil deeper into the quote you would see that he would rather be around a black kid in a hoody than a white guy with tattoos. .. there is only 2 sides 2 the street and if he crosses the street twice he gone be on the same side with the black kid with the hoody and basically saying he would feel safer on that side than on the side of the street with the white guy with tattoos...
