The same thing that happened to letting children work to death in mines (Industrial Revolution) or tossing babies (popular medieval sport), the more educated people are and the more advanced a civilization becomes, the more children come to be viewed as people (the same goes for women, ethnic/racial minorities, foreigners and eventually non-human animals, one day).

I would argue that the general population (particularly US citizens) are dumber due to exponential advancement of technology. Technology is dumbing people down because people are so dependent on it. So many MFs that cant tell you north from south without Google Maps or a damn GPS smh. In actuality I would argue that previous civilizations were far more advanced then ours. They knew shit about the world and built things that has the modern day man scratching his head till this day.

but back on the topic... I'm calling it "THE PUSSIFICATION OF AMERICAN CHILDREN" LOL. Everyone is spoiling the kids to the point that you cant even tell them no. Nothing wrong with an old fashion ass woopin. Fucked up part is that our legal system has signed on and will lock your ass up for disciplining in public. So many GROWN ASS BITCHES in this day in age. Starts from the early years when "oh everybody gets a trophy, even if you fucking suck" and that soft shit evolves into all kinds of bullshit later.
