What do you see wrong in that statement? Todd Pinkston could've looked like a star if he was lining up in front of Dhani Jones and catching passes. A true WR's strength is measured when they line up against CORNERBACKS. You know, those guys who are probably as fast as the WRs themselves, are trained to deflect passes and are looking to block the WR not looking into the backfield to stop RBs as well?

Besides, Welker WAS crushed by linebackers. Every game of the season. That's kinda what happens when you catch slants over the middle. You zoom past a LB, catch the lob, then a 250 pound sumbitch runs into your chest. You get 6 yards, you threaten your QB in the huddle, yadda yadda.

Tight ends dont jut catch though hes one of if not the best blocker at tight end as well. Dudes like Dallas Clark and Witten cant fuck with him in that capacity. too big for corners too fast for linebackers and safeties

Spoken like someone who has not watched Davis play. He is pretty much regarded as the best blocking TE in the NFL, thats why Mike Martz would keep him in to block when he was the OC in San Fran, he was pretty much their best blocker. Against the Dolphins two years ago when Porter was beasting, Vernon Davis held his ass on check. Not to mention he has nowhere near the weapons that witten has around him to take peoples attention away from him. Last year was the first year that the offense focused on getting him the ball and he killed it. Sure he doesnt have the hands that Witten does, but like with TO your gonna have to live with the drops with Vernon because of the playmaking ability that he has.

He's underrated and nice but not a top 5 NT, he was damn good last season but was pretty average before.

Vernon Davis is One of the Best Blocking Tight Ends in the NFL , Before he was Good this year he was still getting High Praise from coaches about his Blocking the other years, his Blocking has never been questioned....Ya'll Didnt watch Vernon Play or know enough about him if u dont think he can block.

Pretty much what I said, dudes have not watch davis play. You can question his hands but not his blocking or play making ability. Like I said he's more complete than witten and Dallas Clark, Dallas clark is never asked to do anything other than catch passes. Vernon has gone from being asked to block on every play under martz and doing a great job, to being Alex Smiths favorite target under Jiimy Raye last year. Not to mention dude is an absolute monster when it comes to strength and speed. I dont see how Witten was even voted in the pro bowl last year dude had a very average year.
