I never saw the point in saying if (insert rapper) dies or died, they'd be considered the best ever. IMO, it's a dumb statement. Macklemore's comments prove just how dumb of a statement it is. First he says that "he [Kendrick] already is" then says "if he dies tomorrow, he's one of the best ever". What changes between him thinking Kendrick's already the best and if Kendrick dies tomorrow? It's morbid and creepy to even think about. Not to mention, it's a disservice to the MC.

The reason they say it is cuz it happens all the time in music. What they're really referring to is Biggie & 2pac. Like i said alot of people are starting to see behind the hype these days. Not saying they weren't good rappers or made good music but how them becoming media sensations because of their death & the controversy behind it made people put them on another status, especially people who weren't into hip-hop or were just kids soaking up info from tv like all kids do.
