Most of these Mase verses are from the Harlem World group album

Yeah I recognised alot of them too, I think some were also from his Harlem World and Double Up albums, but I believe this is from 98 so pre 'proper' internet, so I guess alot them verses would of still been fresh at the time...

For a while Mase was one of my top 5 rappers, Double Up is a mad underrated album imo... He even killed that track 'I Dont Know Officer' with G Unit, I really think dude wasted his talent, people laugh but he could of been an all time great... He had pedigree as he started off rapping with C.O.C and then BIG and Bad Boy so he was constantly rapping with HOF rappers...

People hated on Ma$e and Bad Boy after Big died but truth be told Ma$e's flow and production was tighter than most of the so-called underground/keep it real/backpacker rappers.

Ma$e and Bad Boy made sense, the backpacker rap didn't make any sense. There were so many rappers out circa 97-2000 that put out 12" singles, but they weren't hits or radio friendly. Anybody who's ever owned a 12" single knows there's an A-side and a B-side. The A-side is supposed to be radio friendly, you can be as gutter as you want on the b-side but the A-side is supposed to get radio play and make the honeys dance at the club.

Thats what Big and Puff, and later Ma$e and Puff, mastered perfectly, they had a hit song on the A-side and an underground song on the B-side.

Yeah you are right about the A Side/ B Side thing, the amount 12" I bought just for the B side track is ridiculous... Even when I was a kid was buying CD singles with my pocket money or whatever I found so many gems on the second or third track, like when I bought Dead Prez's 'Hip Hop' I found 'Sellin D.O.P.E' which is one of my favourite joints...

But yeah with regards to Mase, didnt he even say 'I was Murda, P Diddy made me pretty'??? haha like you said he had some crazy production, but I think he had alot of hard tunes to go with the playa joints, I'll always say he also pioneered a whole new style too but just like BIG he knew he needed to listen to Puff's marketing schemes to make paper...
