Jay-Z

Lyricism: 8
Delivery: 10
Subject Matter: 6
Flow: 10

Total : 34

To me Jay's the # 1, but be honest guys, dude barely has a specific topic in his songs. He just adds a bunch of 2 to 8 coherent bars he keeps adding until a verse is finished. What makes him so great as an MC is his delivery, the way he makes simple shit sound brilliant. Therefore his (off the head) writing has to be an 8, sometimes to simple for a 9 or 10. His flow is always on point and he keeps switching it up every 2 or 4 bars, no question to me he deserves a 10 on that one.

They call me Jay Electronica

Fuck that.

Call me Jay ElecHannukah

Jay ElecYarmulke

Jay ElecRamadaan Muhammad Asalaamica RasoulAllah Supana Watallah through your monitor.

Lyricism - 10

See above fools.

Delivery- 8

Jay elec bothers me when hes in interviews, he stutters more then elmer fudd multiplied by jimmy from southpark. but sometimes i feel like his voice is overbearing on what hes saying, really stays monotone for the most part

Subject matter - 10

Have you heard his verse in paul wall's "Live It"!?. not to mention his guest appearances with the most conscious fellows in the rap game. I always felt like "just begun" (by talib, jay elec, jcole and the mighty mos def) was the "swagger like us" of music thats actually worth listening to.

Flow-8

i havent really seen his "flow" and i mean flow as in voice inflection matching beat highs and lows and speed.

And the statistic no one has yet to mention on the thread (to the best of my knowledge)

Longevity- 4

Let's be real, guys a newcomer, he's gotta prove himself (debut album), we can all name 4-5 rappers that really brought it when they first bust on to the rap scene then lost it all because of "insert reason related to money"

sooo lets see here

lyricism - 10

delivery-8

subject matter-10

flow-8

longevity-4

40/50

80%

Not bad J-man not bad at all. i see him being the guy that gets as much props as nas does 20 years down the road, if only he put some more shit out! lol

Flow is how you ride the beat.....delivery is the way you say it.

Tupac's flow was really nothing special, but he probably had the best delivery of all time.

I'm gonna have to disagree on some of these(keep in mind I'm a fan of all of them)

Starlito-

Can ride a beat well but his delivery sounds like alot of other, to much coke rap

Big K.R.I.T

Lyricism 7

Delivery 8

Subject Matter 9

Flow 9

Not as lyrical as he claims to be but flows on the beat amazingly(probably helps that he makes them) does some cool stuff with harmonies in his delivery some pretty good singing and he has something to say

YelaWolf

Lyricism 9

Delivery 10

Subject Matter 6

Flow 9

Perfect delivery he has like 15 different voices harmonies, flow is near perfect usually spits fast but switches flows at every few bars good lyricism but speaks alot in non-sequitors so sometimes the message of the song is lost

Currensy

Lyricism 8

Delivery 8

Subject Matter 5

Flow 9

Love his lazy flow, but his subject matter was never really there and turned to basically all about weed when Wiz Khalifia got his hands on him

Great thread. But it needed one more category for these Rappers to be rated on. And thats : Ability to pick a good Beat.

Yeah some rappers skills are well enough to be high up there. Just the beats they pick do not incline well with their style.

With that said I think we should add versatility as a grading point.

Rappers should be graded on their versatility as well, this way we can see how a rapper can rap over any beat.Examples (Lil Wayne,Jay Z,Chamillionaire,Eminem etc...)
