He is gonna have to show some more range and make some personable music before he gets any type of title.

I dont think there was anything innovative and groundbreaking about that album. Still dope tho

neither did I, but you know the average hip-hop listener don't really know anything about past acts that have been influential to the present state of the game. I remember arguing why Jay was better than Lupe and niggas honestly said " But Lupe was the 1st to make an album as deep and creative as The Cool and you don't see nobody doing stuff like that" I'm like what about A tribe called quest? " I guarantee them dudes didn't do it as lyrically as Lupe." It all stems from Lupe being a different style of rapper than the norm

Right now as a new artist after Nas, I'd say yes I think he's the best lyricist out right now.

he had 2 good albums but he can't reach the common person..his lyrics sometime makes no sense in that you feel like your going retarded or something.. but I love when he is singing. Sometimes he rhyme to fast or does not make songs for the people like driving in the car. I put on a lupe song someone will press skip (lol). His albums were good because it was like a breath of fresh air. I thought he was good when kick push came out that was one of the best hip-hop songs for that time. After that I don't remember him in the public eye that much.

The scientist say it only effects the mind

the boys say it only effects the girls

the preacher man said it will kill off the soul

a bumb said it's gonna kill the whole wide world

- lupe

When it's all said and done, Lupe'll have a place among the great's. Even though his catalog ain't deep, he has two great albums under his belt plus he still semi-new to the game(4 years). He got cosigns from other greats, artist can't deny his skills.

When it's all said and done, Lupe will be viewed in the same vein as GZA. Take it whichever way you want to.

i would have to disagree with that Gza IMO is the LEAST lyrical out of Wu Tang (a better comparison would be Raekwon,Ghostface,Method Man) Gza and Rza to me are what the backbone of Wu is all about they DEFINE wu's sound. Now comparing a Producer/EMCEE with just a Emcee to me just doesnt fit right. Im not saying Lupe is THE BEST EVER, but no one can deny his skills everyone who DOUBTS him listen to this song and tell me this doesnt remind you of some of hip hops great story tellers (Nas,Slick Rick,Jay ect)

Lupe just is a dope ass lyricist and when hip hop heavy weights are co-signing you then how can the rest deny?

I always thought he was wack..that kick push joint was corney to me. and that superstar joint, the hook was better than the verses. I neve heard of greats like Rakim bigging him up
