Listen we all know the following 3 things.

1) Lupe Fiasco is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY better than Soulja Boy

3) Soulja Boy will NEVER be a great rapper

Having said that Soulja Boy is ALOT more relevant than Lupe Fiasco. He is basically saying he wants to continue to be a popular rapper, stay in the public eye(relevancy) and that he wants to be famous which is something that Lupe Fiasco hasnt been in 2-3 years. His fanbase is NOT the fanbase of lyrical shit. That doesnt make them dumb thats just what they like. They like his catchy songs but they even know He sucks. I don't see how people can say Lupe Fiasco "goes over their heads"...unless he's talking about Astronomy theorems or shit like that how can it go over your head? No rapper has lyrics that go over my head.....they might reference something that is not in the immediate pool of my knowledge, but it doesn't just confuse the shit outta me. Saying Lupe goes over people's head is kinda crazy, i think it's more along the lines of people don't wanna think when they listen to music. I listen to hip-hop for in depth and thorough lyrics and superb lyrical content...of course i like my club/party songs in that setting, but that is not the usual case.

As far as SBs "lane"...his lane is that of a ringtone rapper aka garbage as fuck and milking the masses for money as long as they keep supporting him. How can people hate on SB when his own fans acknowledge that he's basic as hell and makes songs that have no meaning and are there strictly for beat/hype purposes? I respect that he made his money and is doing well as a black man in america...but that's about where it stops. He is one of many people bleeding hip-hop dry and not giving a fuck. I have the right to say what i want about garbage mufuckas because they want ME to spend my money on their bullshit albums. If they made music for themselves and their homies and didn't want it to be judged, they should make that shit at home and keep it in the studio.

I don't think it was a diss on Lupe, just some shit he said to keep his name out there with some controversy...People have said the same thing about Jay and Nas at one time or another. But some artists refuse to give up quality to take in more quantity. I respect Lupe for his stance on keeping his music the way he wants it. Not every rapper is gonna have 8 million fans drooling over their music....leave that shit to pop artists on major labels. Millions of people love Sbs shit because all thy hear is a beat and hook, they're not even listening to the music.
