Ok. He garbage. Obvious.
He said he wants to take it more seriously to where he can be considered the best.
Last I check, you don't have to be Lupe Fiasco lyrical to be considered the best.
So how is he saying his fans are dumb and that he is content on being average from that statement?
You're making "hasty generalizations"...common fallacy brother.

How can he be content with being average, but want to get serious and improve? You can't be an average rapper on purpose, cause what you think is average can turn out to be lyrical

who are some of the ones that are considered the best?...then compare some of their lyrics to lupes....you do have to be "lupe fiasco lyrical" to be considered the best...lupes lyrics aren't that over the top anyway..some things might go over peoples heads but for the most part they dont..if they do..then the listener is dumb. lupe isnt one of those "diabolical chronologicalflongalopibal apocylaptic encryptic scriptic " rappers

most of the people that are argued to be GOATS are lyrical with the exception of pac ...but his emotion, message, and content made up for that... i don't see soulja boy making a "keep ya head up " or "brendas got a baby " anytime soon

But why do you have to be like one of the GOATs to be great...how come you can't just do you?
Mike couldn't just be michael jordan he had to be better at everything the greatest players of all time were good at. He couldn't just be a great scorer he had to be a good passer, a good defensive player, and a good leader

Even if he DID want to be super Lupe Fiasco lyrical he couldn't be.

Just like if he wanted to look like and play like Lebron James he couldn't be.

Soulja Boy may have made a conscious decision to step up his lyrical game on his upcoming album The DeAndre Way, but that doesn’t mean he plans on confusing his fans.

In XXL’s November 2010 issue, on stands now, SB tells us he has grown as an MC. “I can’t keep playin’ around, because if you keep playin’ around, people are gonna think you’re a joke,” he said in the piece, written by contributor Matt Barone. “At some point, you have to get serious.

But don’t get it twisted, Soulja doesn’t wanna be the next Lupe Fiasco. “I don’t want to be super-Lupe-Fiasco-lyrical and niggas don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about,” he added.

“I want to be the best,” he continued. “I want to be recognized in that category where I’m nominated for Best Rapper with Jay-Z and Kanye and Wayne. I wanna get a Grammy. I want Best Rap Album of the Year… I’ve made millions of dollars off of doing my style, but, hey, I can rap, too.”

The DeAndre Way hits stores on November 30. XXL’s November 2010 issue with Soulja Boy and 50 Cent on the cover is on newstands nationwide now. —XXL Staff

*Sigh*... Soulja Boy proving himself to be an idiot once again.

1. Lupe isn't super-lyrical, or put it this way, his lyrics don't go over my head AT ALL. People need to learn how to paraphrase instead of trying to interpret every single word.

2. Lupe won a grammy for his single DayDream with Jill Scott.

3. Lupe was nominated for best rap album.

And to further co-sign, Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor was nominated for 3 Grammys that year!!!!

you don't have to mimic them to be great but you post possess some of their qualities to be taken seriously as a contender. you're not going to be gettin "jay-z" awards with 'turn my swag on". nothing wrong with doing what he's doing.but its not goin to get him legendary status

That "lane" shit is such a lame excuse. It gives every garbage nigga a reason to be garbage. 'Well I'm just in my own lane"

Is it though? I mean I used to think that way too. But I dont wanna hear certain artists in the club. I hate Plies shit but when it comes on the music is right for the mood and the surroundings my nigga.

Souljah boy impersonatiing Lupe would do nothing for him as an artist/businessman or his fans/hiphop. So why cant he stay in the "simple catchy songs over dope beats" lane?

This is what I don't get though......Niggas say they don't wanna hear such and such in the club, Ok, but does that mean the niggas gettin played in the club have to be garbage? Is the DJ gon play they whole album in the club? I mean there are some lyrical niggas who have and do get plays in the club.
Does those niggas getting plays in the club have to be garbage club niggas their whole career?

i think its dope he wants to step his game up and if he can eventually achieve a grammy or be nominated for one then better for him but atleast he realizes he needs to step up to stop being treated as a joke! lupe is one of my favorite rappers and he gots awards and nominations so sb got his work cut out for him to be on jay-z/kanye/weezy/lupe level

This thread proves

Since Soulja doesn't wanna surpass Lupe, then he can't be the best.

Therefore Lupe is the best.

Jamacia, get mad.
