Lupe is better than Canibus. Lupe's music has real meaning behind it and is conscious, something positive that kids can listen to. Canibus is a generic battle rap braggart with no real meaning behind what he says other than he can rap better than you.

plus he isnt all battle rap since his second album rip the jacker is way beyond battle raps and is ahead of his time

plus he keep it fundementally hip hop and doesnt stray into r and b and advances hip hop lyrically which is part of the reason he goes unnoticed by the mainstream

Cosign, there's a misconception that he's just a battle rapper, but after his 2nd album he went on to explore different styles of lyricism. Dude is like 10 albums in, and these guys still see him as the Canibus who shredded LL.

Canibus is helluva a lyricist but his albums were doo-doo. He killed the mixtapes but when came time 4 a album no substance just the same flow with a whole bunch of big words and great metaphors and wordplay. Sounds like he was reading out of dictionary but wasnt saying nothin

Right now in the game Lupe is pretty much the best, but that doesn't mean he's a better artist overall compared to niggas like Nas and Jay. It takes more then lyrics to be a great MC.

those are the best bis songs i've heard, besides niggenometry. Bis definitely jumped up a few spots on my book.

however, one of the most important skills to have when talking about lyricism, is being able to say a lot with few words. Bis is quite weak in that area, IMO. at least weaker than nas and lupe.

About the few words thing, I would say it's just a different style of lyricism.

In an interview, Canibus said he purposely raps in full sentences because that style hasn't been done before. It's just another experiment he's doing, from what I understand.

Lyricism is about the technical parts of rappin...metaphors, wordplay, flow, imagery, rhyme scheme, etc.

That being said, Lupe is the greatest TECHNICALLY SKILLED emcee ever to touch a mic. Canibus aint have no kind of metaphors and concepts to fuck wit Lupe. AT ALL.

Em is the only rapper u can mention in that convo wit Lupe, and even then u can make an argument either way...
