Pac is a lyricists & made good music & the greatests of all time, but that dont mean he more lyrical then a Big Pun. same for Jay, you might can claim, Jay a better artists, but straight raw lyrical ability Lupe gots that

Because what's the fucking point of rapping to rap, if you're not saying something that makes sense and tell a story then what's the point. Anyone can throw out some double entandres, wordplay, metaphors,etc (Lil Wayne, Cassidy, Jada, etc), but if you can't be a lyricist in a song writing format the you're essentially worthless and a mixtape rapper. Lyricism isn't only words, it's conveying a message, emotions, painting a picture, and weaving it all together using poetic tools.

It was an observation I made based on this topic, and it has proven to be true throughout my personal experiences. Lyricism is nothing more then opinion aka it's subjective to the listener.

I know people who think Lupe got out-shined by B.O.B on that one song, or Wale got out-shined by JCole on beautiful bliss. Stuff like that is blasphemy to me, but these guys swear by it, so the only conclusion to come up with is: lyricism is subjective.

....Personally, Lupe is in my top 5-10, so I can agree with the T/S statement. Other emcees I put right up there with him (or above him) are Mos Def, Nas, Canibus, Common, Pharoahe Monch, Ghostface, MF Doom, Black Thought etc. and in my opinion all of those rappers can hold their own with (or surpass) Lupe when it comes to lyricism.
