Lyricism is about the technical parts of rappin...metaphors, wordplay, flow, imagery, rhyme scheme, etc.

That being said, Lupe is the greatest TECHNICALLY SKILLED emcee ever to touch a mic. Canibus aint have no kind of metaphors and concepts to fuck wit Lupe. AT ALL.

Em is the only rapper u can mention in that convo wit Lupe, and even then u can make an argument either way...

Jay is by far a better lyricist, because he knows how to make songs and good music unlike Lupe, being a great lyricist is putting music, words, and song crafting together. U makin lyricism more than it is, its not about beat selection, soul, or whatever else u wanna substitute in. Lyricism involves pretty much everything before they actually cut the mic on.

Canibus, Immortal Technique. Lupe is a great lyricist for this decade but that nigga wouldn't have stood out in the 90's. He has good concepts but sometimes his lyrics get basic and he strays away from that. Perfect example is the BMF track he did good concept but his lyrics were wack in that song. Nigga even got outshined by B.O.B. on a track
