They (Atlantic) know/knew damn well he wont be a TI or Jay-z and The Cool actually went Gold so Its kinda hard to buy that Atlantic "forced" all of these poppy records on him just because "Superstar" did fairly well.

that's the thing....Allegedly Atlantic considered The Cool a failure. Hence why they stepped in on LASERS and took complete control .

They signed him for a 6 album deal though, to sign him for that long means they wanted a jay-z or t.i. for their money

So we still blaming the label for Lasers huh?....... This new generation of rappers is soft as shit.

Right. Because when your under someone's else's contract, you can do whatever you want, when you want. You don't have to follow contract guidelines.

Yall niggas is idiots.

I just saw the video where he said he wanted to commit suicide over the Atlantic situation. Lupe Fiasco is a bitch straight up. I'll never support anything with his name on it again.

Someone else's contract that this nigga signed. I mean if he's as revolutionary as he claims and he's fighting against the "machine", why would he sign a six album deal with any major considering the state of hip-hop and the kind of songs you have to make to be successful in this climate?? I'm sure he wasn't on his "fight the power shit" when Atlantic had them checks looking like phone numbers. Lupe sold his soul a long time ago, at least it appears that way. I will always be a fan of his first two albums, but all these excuses are turning me off to dude. I'm just like dude man up, we'll still love you because we know you got talent. Just admit that YOU made a mistake with this album and stop trying to pass the blame.

He been trying to get out that contract though.... isnt that enough in a way. I definitely believe he a contradictory dude, but all rappers are. I dont believe dude to be some revolutionary motherfucker, i just know he can make good music..well till now. Most he ever said negative about the music was that he was "neutral" to some of the songs, dude said he just hated the album cause of the process behind making it.

I'm mean at the end of the day I'm still a fan, which is why I care as much as I do. Its sad to watch this, because I too was expecting much more from dude with this album. I just find it hard to believe that Lupe doesn't have more creative control over his music....... especially since he seems to be very adament about making the music he wants. You mean to tell me that there was no clause or something in that contract that could have warned him about this....... or was he too blinded by them dollars to give a damn??? I'm fearful that Lupe is head down the same road as Nas when it comes to the business side of hip-hop. Even if Atlantic chose every last one of them songs on LASERS its still his fault for not understanding the contract that he signed.

There are parallels to him and Nas in that respect I definitely see it.
