‘Weasel Phrase’: Fox Guest Slams London Mayor For Urging People to Remain Calm

Conservative commentator Mark Steyn lambasted London Mayor Sadiq Khan for urging Londoners to remain calm during a period of heightened security presence after Saturday’s terror attack.

In a statement made in the wake of the London Bridge attack, which left seven people dead and dozens more injured, Khan said: “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed.”

Those comments were seized on by President Donald Trump, who slammed the mayor in a tweet on Sunday, and doubled down (despite widespread criticism) on Monday.

In response to Trump, a Khan spokesperson said the mayor “has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks.”

And then Fox & Friends had Steyn on Monday morning who also took to bashing the mayor for his comments:

“Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, used this weasel phrase on yesterday, saying ‘you don’t need to be alarmed,’ he said this is one of the safest world cities on the planet,”

“And by world cities, he means places like New York, London or Paris that have become big, multicultural centers,” he continued, “where there all whole areas where you don’t know what’s going on, people are running mosques, people are part of networks.”

At that point, host Brian Kilmeade interjected, noting of Khan, “as a Muslim mayor, I would have loved to have seen him speak up and tell us the difference between what he thinks and what they think.”

“That would have gone a long way,” Kilmeade added.

Of course, Khan has repeatedly stressed the differences between his Muslim faith and the ideology driving acts of terror, as recently as Monday morning.

The Mayor's got enough to deal with and this bitch ass coming at him with this simply to promote his agenda.

Trump Jr. Tells London To ‘Do Something A Lot More Proactive’ About Terrorism

Donald Trump Jr. said a lot without saying very much Monday, telling Londoners to “do something a lot more proactive” after a terrorist attack Saturday left seven innocent people dead in the city.

In an interview with ABC’s Tom Llamas to promote the Trump Organization’s upcoming Americana-themed hotel chain — “it has nothing to do with politics,” Trump said, even though “more companies could probably do better by being a little bit more patriotic” — the topic turned to the London attack.

Donald Trump Jr.’s father, President Donald Trump, accused the mayor of London of downplaying the risk of terrorism Sunday by quoting him out of context. Mayor Sadiq Khan, London’s first Muslim mayor, told Londoners not to be alarmed by the increased police presence following Saturday’s attack. The President implied he was saying that terrorism itself was no reason to be alarmed.

Khan said Sunday he “had more important things to do” than respond to Trump’s attack. On Monday he told the BBC: “We aren’t going to allow anybody, whether it’s Donald Trump or anybody else to divide our community.”

“It happened again, and we keep appeasing it, and we keep saying ‘Okay, it’s gonna be great. We’re gonna hold fast and we’re gonna keep calm and carry on,’” Donald Trump Jr. said Monday, though he never specified who exactly had made that argument.

“Maybe we have to keep calm and actually do something. And I think that’s what he’s trying to say, because he’s been proven right about it every time,” he said, referring to his father.

Donald Trump Jr. himself quoted Khan out of context in order to attack him in March, after another attack in London. Just hours after the attack, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted a months-old quote of Khan’s, that terrorism was “part and parcel of living in a big city.”

“You have to be kidding me?!” Don Jr. tweeted, appearing to falsely situate the quote as Khan’s real-time reaction to the attack.

“This is a recurring theme, and then we’re attacked,” Donald Trump Jr. continued on Monday. “But maybe, rather than the mayor of London attacking, maybe he should do something about it. Maybe he should do something to fix the problem rather than just sit there and pretend there isn’t one. And I think that’s an important message.”

“So you think the mayor of London is at fault for what happened?” Llamas asked.

“No, that’s not what I said,” Donald Trump Jr. responded. “I think it’s time for the people there to probably act and do something a lot more proactive than what’s been going on. And I do think that’s something people have to do. We can’t just sit there and pretend this is not a problem.”

In the interview excerpts ABC published Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. never explicitly said what he thought Londoners should do, nor what he thought would have prevented the attack.

Damn.. I didn't shoe polish head was expert on terrorism...

The UK has been hit with attacks for years, of course we are going to stay calm and get on with life, and we are not going to get ridiculously hysterical like the US media wants us to be - we don't operate like that. Fuck off with the 'weasel' comment, and Fox News can fuck themselves as well. When 9/11 happened no one from the UK was trying to shit on Giuliani.

Seeing the US coverage of the Manchester and London events is infuriating.

Joe Walsh Rants About 'Evil Black People' To Deflect From White Supremacist Terrorism

Former Republican Rep. Joe Walsh clashed with a U.K. politician on Tuesday after the ex-congressman brought up "evil black people" in response to terrorist acts by white supremacists.

During a discussion on MSNBC, Walsh asserted that President Donald Trump had launched a Twitter assault on London Mayor Sadiq Khan because the U.S. leader was passionate about stopping terrorist attacks.

"Then if this anger towards hate is coming from a place of passion," MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle noted, "why didn't the president have that level of immediate passion and anger and upset when that same level of hate happened on a train in Portland, Oregon when a white supremacist killed two men?"

"He should," Walsh replied. "And he should every time a young black man shoots another young black man in the city of Chicago."

"That was an act of terror, sir," Ruhle said.

"That was an act of terror committed by an evil white supremacist," Walsh agreed. "And there are evil black people in this country who kill white people."

British Labour Party candidate Paul Flynn dismissed Walsh's arguments, noting that the former congressman had once advocated for a moat with alligators on the U.S.-Mexico border.

"The correct response is to get angry," Walsh insisted. "That's the point Trump was making. And in the United Kingdom, they refuse to do that. And London's mayor refuses to do that."

"I don't lecture you," Flynn replied. "But the fact that because of handguns being universally available in America, you have more people killed every hour in American by accidents with guns or malicious acts with guns than we do in this country in a whole year."

"You have a massacre of gun violence in America," he added. "[The London terrorists] used knives. If they used guns, they could have [killed] hundreds. But we don't decide to lecture you about how to run your country."
